The Maven
I was shocked when I heard Nova has a serious injury, but it's better it happened now and not during a playoff series. This way hopefully he'll be ready to go by April of next year.
Nuno or Phelps is their best bet going forward.
Even if Nova were ready next April, he will not be throwing more than 150 innings in his first season back from TJ. More likely 100-120 innings as he will be back in May/June.
Not good news if you are a Yankees fan. With Sabathia on the decline; Kuroda also not pitching well from the second half last year and on; and Pineda on a likely innings limit of 150-160 (if he makes it); the Yankees pitching will be in shambles by July.
They will overwork Tanaka when he starts, to save their bullpen because it will be overused. Same old Yankees.
For the record...I think Pineda is the next starter to go down. He didn't look comfortable to me on the mound in the game against the Sox.
Better dip into the farm system. Oh wait...nobody there.
