I hope Girardi know if the Yanks miss out on the real playoffs (not that 1 game playoffs trash) then he will be looking for a new job this winter.

Is it really his fault tho??

I mean if they miss the wild card entirely then ok.

But this Yankee roster is not that good. Over 162 games they are probably better then all the WC teams like we've seen. But they really ain't close to the top 3.

And certainly not good enough for a 1 game playoff win to be a lock

Not entirely his fault but I can't see him coming back if he can't make it to the ALDS. Maybe if he had won the 1 game playoffs a few years ago then he wouldn't be in this position. But to lose the 1 game playoffs 2x in 3 years won't cut it

Yankees fans were fine with missing the playoffs... until they weren't. Lol.

Jeremy Barfield (yes, the son of Jesse Barfield) is hitting .284/.357/.558 with 24 home runs (granted that line is somewhat bolstered by a ridiculous July (.336/.422/.709 with 12 homers). He's 29. Why keep him in AA? Promote him to Pawtucket and see if he keeps hitting. It's not like he'd be blocking anyone, the Sox don't really have any intriguing OF prospects right now (except maybe Aneury Tavarez, but he's hurt anyway).

Yeah because expectations not going to change after 2.5 months in the season. Expectations change all the time.

Your logic is stupid

That's like saying fans of an NFL team shouldn't expect their team to make the playoffs after a 6-2 start just because in preseason everyone expected that team to finish over .500 and miss out on the playoffs. They should totally be fine with their team finishing the year at 1-7 and missing out the playoffs.

It is insane the stupid people who post on this board.

Also when you make several trades as the Yankees did this summer, it is painfully obvious that the Yanks made those moves to make sure they're playing in the postseason baseball this fall but yeah Yankees fans should totally be ok with missing out the playoffs. You seriously can't make up these ridiculous statements.

They acquired Gray, Kahnle, Robertson, and Frazier while having several key pieces returning from the DL since the end of July but no way should Yankees fan expect this team to make the playoffs.

“When I look at ownership and the front office, they’ve given us an opportunity to do something special here, and now we have to go out and do it,” he said.

Fucking Brad Brach
How many times does he allow a soul crushing run late in the game.
6 blown saves and another 4 blown late 1 run leads that were not technically saves.

Anyone who watches the Orioles knows his raw stats are not telling the real story.
He allows runs and blows saves/holds usually at the worst possible emotional time for Baltimore.

I really want to see Castro and Bleir getting more chances in the 8th.
But. a win is a win.

The trade for Tim Beckham (widely criticized) seems to have completely re-energized them this last month.
I'd actually like to see what Castro could do in the starting rotation. Couldn't do much worse than some of the guys we currently have there.

Important win for the Yanks for the WC race especially with Baltimore losing

even if the Sox drop the next two, they'll still have a 3.5 game lead. Winning the next two would be great though. Fister's looked good over the last month and he's earned some confidence IMO. He's been worth nearly 1 WAR. Could do a lot worse for your #6 SP.

I told you the division was over weeks ago. You didn't listen to me. Considering this is the Yanks/Sox final series of the year. Even if they win the next 2, winning the division now seems highly unlikely

You'd feel the same way if you saw your team blow a 9 game lead for the WC in 2011.

Did you know: John Farrell used to babysit Matt Holliday when Farrell played at Oklahoma State and Holliday's dad was a coach there. Now, Holliday burns Farrell's Red Sox with a three-run homer in sixth inning. Yankees lead, 4-1.
