Feels like the Tigers should have been working on that extension last year or in the offseason
His agent is Scott Boras.

There will be no discount. There will be no short term huge dollar deal. He’s gonna hit FA in 27 and be the second highest paid pitcher ever to Ohtani. Or highest ever.

I’ve prepared myself. He’s been his agent his whole career.

Well, that blows.
yikes.....not great for the Twinkies.

on the bright side of things- Shane Bieber is getting a rehab start in AA tomorrow and should be up right at the beginning of July.

Bieber, Bibee, Williams, Ortiz is a nice top 4 I can live with. Miles ahead of the slop from last year.

its gonna be so expensive to keep him. Even though its an AL Central team- I hope they keep him. It is good for the sport. I think he wants to be there.

I just hope he doesnt get some insane Soto like offer and is basically compelled to either take a massive discount or go somewhere he really doesnt want to go but the money is just so vastly different the union basically makes him do it.
JRam has shown IF you want to take less to stay where comfortable neither union nor agent can stop you......but for a SP if he gets some crazy megadeal hard not to take it.

and as much as I cannot stand the Dolan model I'm fine he wont offer crazy money, especially to SPs.

Really wish would have taken a chance and offered Biebs at least a 2 year deal he'd take.

As it stands he either pitches well half a season and bolts or does not pitch well and we overpaid.

If the guy wants the last dollar not much can do about it but IF he's where he wants to be can even tell Boras just get it done.

Didn't know he was a Boras player. Makes sense, unfortunately

The day Scott Boras dies will be a good day for baseball.

Back in the mid/late 90's I would take the bus downtown, so I could drink, and watch Akron Aeros games at Canal Park.

Great little stadium. And it was always jammed packed if a player was making a rebab stop there.

Or players just need to realize they are the boss and not him? Now if they to risk injury and get the last dollar he's your guy.....but if happy where you are and just want to get a deal done it's OK to tell him that and if he wont do it find someone else.

I don't think it's that easy with Boras.

I mean, it actually is if the player is a big boy and knows he is in charge. Might Boras push back? Sure...but that's where player says get it done or I find someone who will.

I do wonder what might have happened if he was JRam's agent.

Might?

Boras has a reputation, no extensions etc. Its not as simple as one player
