Normally I would say that kind of a deal would be ridiculous, but I could see Jeter going for it.This is how Miggy gets to be on the Miami ballclub.....
He retires, gives up the rest of his $154mil, and then becomes the Marlins player-manager*. He'll get a bench coach to actual manage the club and he'll take the field whenever the spirit (spirits?) move him. He can hold press conferences about how MLB is screwing with his pals, like Robinson Cano, and how they should let first baseman keep a bottle of good scotch next to the bag during a game.
* A 10 year contract as manager at $10* a year plus a cut of the clubs profits would make up for the lost salary.
