That's easy for you to say but don't know the background of the guy. I don't believe in corporal punishment either. But there's plenty of members of my extended family that does and can't fathom why anybody would have a problem with it.

IMO their is nothing wrong with a swap on the butt to keep kids from harming themselves, by playing with fire for example , but even then you don 't make them bleed. AP just cooked his goose, what a shame, not easy being a parent.

There are plenty of ways to put the fear of god in your kid for doing something dangerous without having to wallop them.

He did not "Beat his kid until he bleed". That is to imply he repeatedly hit the kid with the goal of making him bleed. That's not what happened.

What happened was he hit too hard and it drew blood. It happens more easily with switches because they are so thin/round.

I'm more interested in if it was a repeated thing.

Hit? No. Spank? Yes. Kids do things all the time that are dangerous to their well being, be that running out in traffic or climbing on things that could collapse to playing with fire, just to name a few. Got to put a stop to that and sending them to their room isn't good enough. That is what you do when they give you lip.

What the kid has is pretty much in line with the kind of discipline I saw, and I made sure to stay out of trouble. I also know AP is right when he says that the chord is over the top. If AP was swinging full force then we'd be looking at pictures of a corpse with a leg chopped off. I have kids of my own now and I don't believe in corporal punishment. But there's a lot of people that do and he was obviously raised that way so who the hell is anyone to judge him.

There is nothing good that can come out of beating a little child with belts and tree branches until they're bleeding. It's not normal in any way, shape or form......and if I ever witnessed a parent doing that, I'd kill them with my bare hands and let a trial decide my fate. That is a damn guarantee.

If your kid keeps trying to touch a hot stove and won't listen to reason? Yeah I think a slap on the hand is warranted.

Beat a kid? Of course not. Give them a spanking to protect them from themselves. Sometimes it is needed.
