Things have been getting better with these guys. You still have your stories like this, but it used to be all over.

Earning over 100 mil in 11 years and going broke before your playing career even ends IS absolutely insane, though. My god.

A lot of it was because every relative used to come out of the woodwork with their hands out and these guys had trouble saying no.

I had a case years ago where a Packer DB (name escapes me) got into a bad business deal with a cousin. The cousin got sued and of course the player got dragged into it. He had no clue what scam his cousin was running.
