I would call it respect.

True. I always respected my dad and still do, but when I wanted to act out, but didn't it was fear that kept me in line not respect. It was a combination of both, but's it more effective to be feared than loved.

Every generation seems to think that about the following generations. Go to YouTube and you can find someone being interviewed since the invention of the camera saying that.

I'd argue if anything this generation is too passive and conformist. Boring. But not more threatening, disrespectful or criminal.
