Adrian Peterson believes Vick would make the Vikings a playoff team. Is he right?

One things for sure is AD isn't getting any younger.

They have the best running back in the game in their backfield.

Whatever they do, they better find a QB quick if they want to make a run at a championship.

AP's comments are just another example of how much the stars of the game respect Vick's athletic ability. It just speaks to how much of a freak of nature athlete Vick is that other great talents see it and go "wow". So it doesn't surprise me when AP (or others) go "yeah! we need that!". Unfortunately Vick can never stay healthy. IMO, his days as a starter are over and if he's insistent on being a starter, I don't see him being in the league beyond 1 more season. And I wouldn't be shocked if he was out of the game this season. But if he'd just swallow his pride (tough for lots of athletes to do), I think Vick could be a quality back up for 3 or 4 more seasons.

Vick already conceded that being a starter isn't mandatory. He was great about supporting Foles as the starter in Philly.

Of course it was wrong. I'm disputing the claim that it makes him some terrible person.

And for the record they all needed put down. What's putting down a few of them himself?

It doesn't make Vick a horrible person, it makes him a piece of shit.

Its pretty much always been one side of the ball or the other for the vikings...and right now that D is BAD:nod:

maybe keeping them off the field all game time will help?

What is the point of having a criminal justice system if we cannot rehabilitate criminals after they truly pay their debts AND show legitimate remorse?

Vick paid his debt to society and then some... He lives a life of remorse and reflection everyday now.
He spent 2 years in prison and lost 100 million dollars.

He still to this day is a dog activist.
He volunteers countless hours in educating others through the story of his own mistakes.
His visibility and efforts with animal welfare probably does more positive things for animal welfare than his stupidity in the past did negative things.

Plus, he is a model teammate. He never complains. He is a leader.
When Riley Cooper made an ass of himself, Vick was the first guy to forgive him and work with Cooper to bridge the lockeroom chasm he created.

Those two people are not even recognizable.

But, feel free to hold a grudge forever.

The problem with your premise is that the criminal justice system actually rehabs offenders. Punishment and rehabilitation are the procedures utilized in the prison systems today, each vastly different from the other. Since both are used (in many cases simultaneously) the effects of each are minimized. It is the number one problem in criminology.

I don't believe Vick has been "rehabilitated" nor do I think he shows remorse. I do think he knows how lucky he was that he received another chance, and any perceived remorse is based upon his realization that he almost lost everything rather than his remorse.

Sorry, just not buying the bullshit.

LOLOLOLOLOL he's now a -has been- back up. He was never that good anyway and now he's older and beat up

And know's he needs to manage the ball better..
I'm not a Vick supporter, as a matter of fact, I've never liked him. But it's the one piece they need on offense right now, while they develop the draft pick. He's not my first choice, but he would be a good fit in the offense. All the pieces are there, except QB..
Zimmer will get the defense functional soon enough, I would think.

Matt Cassel re-ups with the Vikings for two more years

APWith Chad Henne breaking the seal on the backup-quarterbacks-for-teams-that-need-starters market today, it’s fair game for the rest of them.
Thus, the Vikings have held onto Matt Cassel, as Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports Cassel has agreed to a new 2 year deal.

Well that ends that !!!!!

Of course he did cause the little bitch is standing on a sideline holding a clip board collecting a paycheck! (A paycheck that pays off that debt he has cause he thought dog fighting was cool)....

I always thought Vick was way over rated, just like the new rave of Kopatrick and RG3rd string.....
No one was talking about Russell Wilson and while Luck was all that they expected and more, Wilson got the Lombardi......So much for media/fan raves....KnowattameanVern !!!!!!

If this happens, there will be at least 1 less Viking fan. I will never root for a piece of shit like Vick.
So Vick's dog ring/gambling shit shows are so bad in your eyes, despite him having done time and seemingly have changed his life for the better as a result, that you'll stop being a Vikings fan? But, you'll gladly cheer on Adrian Peterson, who has had what, 7 kids by 4 different chicks or something at this point? I'm sure Adrian has been an ample, and sufficiently present, father figure in all of his kids' lives. Were you also a Vikings fan when pieces of shit like Bryant McKinnie, Koren Robinson, or countless other less than perfectly model citizens were on the team? Or did you just take breaks from your fandom during those times?

The people on here who are still getting hung up over Vick's past life of the dog fighting thing are absurdly hypocritical. It wouldn't be so bad, if not for the fact that each of you is apparently an open fan of pro sports teams, including the NFL, basically all of which probably consist at least 50% of less than particularily great *people* in general on the rosters. Was Vick's dog fighting/interstate gambling ring a morally bad thing to do? In my eyes, absolutely, it was a very shitty thing for him to participate in. But, he has seemingly kept a clean nose since serving his sentence for it, and there are countless other players in the league who have done things just as shitty, if not shittier, than Vick, who get a free pass, or are largely overlooked in comparison. The main reason Vick gets so much heat for his dog fighting, vs. say guys like Terrell Suggs, who apparently held bleach over his girlfriends' face, threatening to blind her, is because the dog fighting was a unqiue case. It isn't every day an NFL icon gets busted for funding and participating in a dog fighting ring, but it's fairly routine to see players getting drunk or f'd up on other drugs and getting violent with people. Thus, the media latches even harder to Vick's story than the others, and groups like PETA obsess over it, drawing more attention to it than the other cases.

If Vick's past life would keep you from rooting for an NFL team he played for, then you shouldn't be a fan of any team, because I guarantee that each and every NFL team has at least several, if not more players who have done worse than Vick, while we will never hear about it, maybe because the player never makes it as big as Vick has.
