Adrian Peterson believes Vick would make the Vikings a playoff team. Is he right?

I actually think if Vick could stay healthy for a season he would definitely be a force in Minnesota. This is why I keep saying that of all the teams in the 1st 10 picks of the draft Minnesota might be the one place I could see Manziel having success. No quarterback going there is the focal point of the team. AP just needs a serviceable quarterback who can make teams have to stay honest. Plus there are actually some very good weapons with Patterson, Jennings, and Rudolph for him. The OL really isn't that bad either.

Health is THE big if...While I think AP being the focal point will make them competitive, because he will shorten the game and keep the ball in MIN OFC hands, but they need the QB to make plays so there is pressure on the position, but I think Vick can deliver as well.

I would say the receivers for Minnesota fit well with Vick as his deep ball wasn't too bad when he is asked to throw. Patterson is starting to develop into one of the best deep ball WR's in the NFL and Jennings can go deep when asked as well. You are right Health is the big if...but really what is the downfall in signing Vick at this point. IF say he goes down in injury or has a horrible season they are right back in the top 10 in place to pick a quarterback again next year. Most likely the top 2 guys will be off the board and possibly even the top 3 when they pick this year. So quarterback would be a reach in round 1. There are some great developmental guys that they could draft in the 2nd or later so they could get an impact Defensive player in the 1st round that if say Vick does stay healthy and makes some plays the Vikings could become a darkhorse team next year. Plus you would have to think if AP is fighting for this and say they give it to him then AP is going to do everything possible to keep his word on them getting back to the playoffs.

Didn't he also say something to the effect that getting Jennings was a guy that could take them to "the next level?"

There isn't even proof he actually directly did it past guys throwing him under the bus to save their own asses. But no, I don't think dogfighting makes you that terrible of a person when it was part of your culture your whole life.

I do.

Johnny football has 0 chances in a billion of becoming a viable starter.

There is no comparison between saying a player has no talent and defending their actions that are seriously overreacted to.

Let me guess, somebody killed your dog or was involved in dog fighting? I mean, you said you're heckled by your friends, like Icognito did and friends said they would run a train on your sistser. So I guess that's why you defend the 2 scumbags.

And this coming from a Falcons fan, who loved Vick and how he turned out franchise around.

Modern times? Uh...I'll take that as your opinion only. Vick was overrated, but not the most in modern times he pretty much put the Falcons on the national NFL stage by himself...prior to him I don't believe they had ever been on prime time TV, local games were always blacked out. His signature win was the playoff game @ Lambeau.

That he did. Changed the game the way he played and changed our franchise around. I love him for what he did here, but despise him for his actions after.

IMO...Vick doesn't work imo for the NYJ because they are trying to develop a young QB, and Vick would be too expensive to be the back up. He doesn't work in OAK because imo they just don't have enough talent around him, same with JAX (they are pretty much assured the #2 QB off the board anyway). CLE...eeehh, maybe.

Where he does seem to fit is in MIN and you've pointed out the reasons...in addition to that, one of the best young LTs in the game, and their RT is very solid. At 8, get one of the pass rushers, Barr or Mack. In the 2nd round they can take Carr, or Mettenberger. If they need to shore up the OG spot, they have $ to spend in FA.

That said, Vick can't be the turnover machine he was before he got hurt in Philly. But MIN can be a playoff team next year with him running the show.

Vick is one of those guys that just needs a new start. I think he got hyped up so much with the whole new coach coming in thing that he just fell flat on his face. In Minnesota the team wouldn't have high expectations on them and not many would think much about Vick being there. He seems to thrive when people underestimate him then crumble when people have expectations of him.

I was here for the entire ride with Vick and could spend the rest of the day on him...I did follow the Falcons a little before he came. The SB team was the best Falcon team ever to this day imo...but in a city where literally half the population are transplants, and half the games were not on local TV you just never bought in all the way.

The whole dog ring issue was bad, really bad, but he was a ticking time bomb ready to explode long before then. The time in the pen seemed to change his life, so I've moved on.

idk about that...even though he's not considered to be a top 10, etc. there will be expectations simply because of AP has said, and for the same reasons we think he would fit there.

Wish Dr Monkey was here to do his Vick aka Ron Mexico list. Gave someone herpes knowingly, gun possession at a child's bday party, interstate gambling ring, dog fighting and torture/death,weed on a plane to name a few. I liked the kid at Vtech and watched him almost beat FSU in NCG as a soph. His brother Marcus , who they said had a better arm, gets thrown out of Vtech for gun charges. Thug for life.
Whoever thinks that Michael isnt a good-great guy doesnt think rationally.

I wanted to get Vick two years ago. Now he's older and even more injury prone but could not be worse.

Disagree completely, for now. The Vikings have to fix up their offensive line, Vick is already susceptible to injury, they have to fix that line to even make Vick a viable season long option.

One of the biggest issues with Vick is he's a turnover machine, the Vikes need to be safe at quarterback. They just can't have a guy who will give the football up with Adrian Peterson in the backfield controlling the game.

I would rather see Johnny Football up here, than an injury prone M Vick.

Was getting ready to use a bad pun...I wouldn't...I just don't see the pro skill set in Manziel...Vick is definitely injury prone and his contract would reflect that...I would take Vick as a stop gap, and get a QB in the 2nd round that I wouldn't have to push out there next year...at least not in the beginning of the yr...you draft JM that high you have to play him.

Exactly! Viking fans would be up in arms, ( until Vick has that one game that shocks everyone) then you take Carr in the second, let learn, let him get his feet wet a little then unleash him his second year....

Sadly, I did not move on.

Though I've also been a Rams fan my whole life, but the Falcons always come first.

I don't hold that against anyone that couldn't let it go, but in my view he paid the price, did his time, but he can never bring those animals back...doesn't mean people should love him again, etc. but I don't harbour ill feelings and there are plenty of athletes, etc that I don't like.

I've been a Steeler fan 40+ yrs now, but I have to say, Vick made me pay attention to the Falcons and I call myself Falcon fan on some level today.
