In other words you would lose AD in free agency and get fired?

You get pennies on the dollar when you are forced to trade a player like AD. That is just the way it is.

Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t he signed for over 2 more years? If so any offer they take should reflect that Is what I’m saying. You are correct on the pennies though so why rush it?

... why rush it?
1.) AD's value to N.O. will diminish if they hold him to the bitter end.
2.) AD's attitude is likely to sour if they hold him to the bitter end.
3.) N.O. is going nowhere fast, why not calculate the best time to start the rebuild and maximize whatever they can get?

How often do stars get traded for stars, though? When does that happen?

I know AD is on a different level than Tatum. That's not what I'm saying.

What I'm saying is: contending teams want to string stars together in the same line-up. Not trade one for the other.
Right.

But, like you said, Tatum isn't a star.

Look, let me make my stance clear: Celtics have the most assets.

Of the 3 teams being discussed, Porzingis is the best player when healthy.

Tatum is 2nd.

Brown is about on par with Ingram, Kuzma.

You aren't getting Davis for Brown when there is another team willing to give them 2 players that are equivalent, Ball, Zubac and picks.

A year and a half. The 2nd year is a player option. So basically they need to trade him in the next 12.3 months or he is gone for nothing.

Brown, Smart and 4 first rounders- one of which is likely to be a lotto pick in Sacramento is prob. the base offer from the Celtics.
If the Pelicans trade Davis to the Celtics and don't come away with Tatum, major fail.

I honestly expect a surprise team to step forward like the Raptors did with Kawhi.

If the Pelicans trade him this year, which I don't think they will, the team that gets him could go all in on a championship run this year and then turn around and flip his ass at the deadline NEXT YEAR, if he isn't inclined to stay.

What if they get in on it now like i said. Maybe AD wont last that long. And even if he does. I really think AD is going to sign with the Lakers/Lebron anyway. All signs point to LA. But since the Lakers dont want to trade Kuzma, who is way better than Tatum, I think every team improves from this. Though its just the trade machine and i was fucking around with it i dont count it out. However unlikely.
You think Kuzma is way better than Tatum?

Dude...lol

Ok that changes things a bit. He is helping them as much as possible by telling them but still no way they can replace him.

Right.

But, like you said, Tatum isn't a star.
Tatum is 20.

If we weren't talking AD here, Tatum would be considered one of the most untradeable assets in the NBA.

I don't necessarily disagree so much as think any team thinking about Porzingis has to be terrified about him being a cronic injury case.

You're more upbeat about the Lakers package than I am.

I think Ball and Zubac are losing propositions. Ball is fatally flawed and Zubac is a dinosaur 5 man that the NBA is quickly leaving behind. I don't even want them if I'm N.O.... (is that too mean?)

The C's picks are better than the Lakers picks.

Brown vs Ingram and Kuzma... I won't argue the point. I agree they are all roughly in the same league.

They would have to get the Freak or Embiid for equal value.

So, you are correct.

Well hopefully for their sake they will get more than the Thunder got for Durant. Wouldnt take much.

Oh, yes.

You blow them away in the pick department.

I'm not blown away by the Lakers assets per se.

I just think , cumulatively, they are better than that Celtics offer without Tatum.

I'd take Rozier over Ball.

I'd take Tatum over everyone.

Brown/Kuz/Ingram are a push.

Zubac is likely fools gold.

I hear you.

But, George is a hell of a consolation prize.

Plus, in the words of Mike Tomlinson, you want VOLUNTEERS, not HOSTAGES.

You have a team full of guys that want to be there.

For sure but seldom do things like this work out like they did for the Thunder.
