Top 3 protected, correct??

Even if Kobe doesn't retire, which I think he will, he'd never get even close to the type of money he is now.
Louie you are right. He will never get that kind of money, but I think it would be better for all that Kobe moves on. He is an all-time great and glade he was a Laker.

Hibbert: Elite rim protector. Expiring contract. Shouldn't hurt the growth of the youngsters. Will likely get an asset similar to the Jeremy Lin trade. He's not my favorite player but I have to justify it somehow :noidea:

I really think this will be it for Kobe. 20 seasons is a nice number to end on. Hopefully he stays healthy all season.

Man I hope this isn't true. What is Indiana going to want for Hibbert? If it is Hill and say Sawggy, that's a possibility but If Larry starts asking for Randle that would be mistake and would expose the Lakers as being hellbent on saving their FA face (and asses) which would be completely stupid.

No way in hell would we be giving up anything other than maybe a stashed previous second round pick. Indiana will add the asset similar to the Jeremy Lin trade. They want to give him up and not take back much. Given the Lakers cap space, they can make it happen.

Rumors are Lakers are giving up cash and a future second round pick for him. I don't like giving up picks to eat a ton of salary.

I've read that the pick will be a stashed second rounder, Ater Majok. No big deal there. I thought they could squeeze a first rounder out of Indiana considering the 15% trade kicker. If they can't work out anything there, the Lakers will have a little less than $5mil left to work with.

Looks like we absorb Hibbert's contract and we give up a stashed second rounder. The upside is Hibbert is a way better defender than anything we have had in a while. So, it may work out and we can continue to develop Upshaw. This guy does have a problem between his ears and he really needs to get his mind right. We also need to re-sign Hill and get on with it.

Also, are cap numbers will be closer to $8 million with Hibbert's contract according to SBNation.

With Sacre and likely Upshaw on the roster, Hill won't be resigned.

There is NO way we lose out on this deal, IMO!

Way better rim protector, he does have some upside on offense. I think he'll be fine in this offense.

I think closer to $5mil. With the trade kicker, Hibbert is around $18mil. They had about $23mil to work with.

Well somebody's got their numbers wrong. SBNation is reporting $15.5 is the Hibbert contract.

Yea, I sort of figured the SBNations article missed something. Thanks lakersrule.

Well Louie, that is what SBNation published but apparently there is a 15% trade kicker that is attached that SBNation missed.

Hey everyone, allow me to chime in. Long time Laker fan in IN. Please don't give up to much for Hibbert. Man has/had tons of untapped potential but never really lived up to potential 2011/2012 may have been best year. He should easily be a 15+ point and 10+ board per game player. Living in IN I've been really disappointed in his overall effort to excel. If they can get him for a second round pick, that would be good. Maybe change of scenery may be trick??

That is what the Lakers gave up for Hibbert. A stashed second rounder.
