The Lakers definitely drafted well last summer. I was high on Clarkson after seeing him in summer league, and he is proving that talent at the NBA level. We really haven't seen Randle yet against the big boys, but I have a feeling he'll do well. Great article by Ding about Randle. Here's the link.

A Season Lost, Julius Randle Readies His Mind and Body to Lead Lakers from Abyss | Bleacher Report

I look forward to watching this kid play next season. Looked good in pre season. He is going to be the player they build around.

We'll get to see him in the summer too. According to Byron, he and Clarkson will be playing in the summer league and he expects them to dominate.

Yea, might as well circle the wagons. B. Scott needs all the ex-Lakers who know how to win he can muster and B. Shaw would be a great addition.

We must find a way to steal Westbrook or Anthony Davis or were not going to win for a LONG time...

I don't know about that wlk3. We get 4 top picks in this year's draft and we add a Monroe or Deandre Jordon and we will be right back on the road to a good team in a couple of years.

I say everyone here pools our money together, we buy the Pelicans, and then trade Davis to the Lakers for Robert Sacre and a bench press. Then we sell the franchise for profit since values keep going up and up. It's a win win!

Some good news.....Randle has been cleared for full weight bearing activity. No contact yet though. He said he feels strong with no pain in the foot or leg. He said he looks forward to early drives to Newport this summer to train with Kobe. Sounds like he'll be on track to get some summer league run.

That is good news but the longer he stays off the court the better. It will be fun to watch him in the summer league. :thumb:

The Lakers are going to sign Jabari Brown to a 10-day contract since Swaggy is going to be out longer than expected. Brown was with the Lakers camp and was a teammate of Clarkson at Missouri.

Heard an interesting take on the much maligned Steve Nash trade yesterday. Apparently, the draft picks used to get Nash haven't meant much. There were 4 picks involved. 2 of the picks were used for players that no one has ever heard of and that are either no longer in the league or are guys sitting on the end of someone's bench. The upcoming pick that we're hoping to keep was sold to the Sixers for cash. I forget what became of the 4th of those picks, but it wasn't much.

Additionally, if the Lakers do lose the pick, it will be because it fell to 6th or later. There haven't been a lot of difference makers drafted 6th and beyond of late. Last years 6th pick, in what we were told was a "stacked class" was Marcus Smart who is currently averaging 7.8 ppg, 3.3 apg, 3.4 rpg and 11.04 per. He also is shooting 36% from the field and 66% from the free throw line.

Compare that to the Lakers Jordan Clarkson, who was drafted 40 picks later, and his current averages of 10.2 ppg, 2.8 apg, 2.9 rpg and 15.37 per. He also is shooting 43% from the field and 83% from the free throw line.

Yea TJF12. It almost makes a fan want to hope for a boatload of second rounders because for some reason, Mitch seems to find gems in the second round.
