Thought Didi got all of that at first.
At least the Jays did not win.....Now if the Padres can hang on and knock off the Rangers it will be like the Yanks didn't even play tonight lol
Thank god I had to paint the deck between 7 and 10:30 tonight.
Ready to chalk up all Nova starts as losses for the rest of the season.
5.93 ERA in the month of August for Nova
Half serious I did paint the deck and was out there until 8, but got to watch the middle innings at B Dubs. Nova kept getting into trouble than pitching his way out. It seemed to me that he needed baserunners to get him to bear down and pitch.
?I did see a stat in the middle of the game where the Yankees had left 8 MOB while the Sox had only left 3. They also mentioned on the radio that the Yankees had had 20 base runners during the course of the game and only scored 3 runs, not good. But it all leads to back to the problem the Yankees have had all year and that is not enough offense to support this pitching staff.
?
Yankees have scored the 2nd most runs in the majors while their team ERA is 15th.
Yeah, I'd say going back to just prior to the first Blue Jays series the Yankees bats haven't been great, but the comment said "the problem the Yankees have had all year" which, ya know, not quite.Yanks offense has hit a rough patch as of late, batting a mere .238/.319/.389 in August. They have 132 runs in 28 games this month, but a good chunk of them came in several games (73 runs in 5 blowout wins). Teixeira's gotten hurt and A-Rod's fallen off a cliff, whether it's from injuries/age or just plain bad luck (.190 BABIP in August). Even Gardner's having a rough 2nd half (.211/.320/.272, .269 BABIP (was .363 in the 1st half)).
Yanks offense certainly hadn't been the problem prior to this month though. Yanks have batted .255/.326/.428 (109 OPS+) as a team over the season, and have scored 630 runs. It's just amazing how much of a gap there is between the Jays and Yanks offensively. Jays have scored 90 more runs and have batted .266/.335/.451 (116 OPS+) as a team.
Their rotation is pretty thin though. Tanaka (107 ERA+ in 19 starts) and Severino (181 ERA+, but only 5 starts) are the only SP on that team with an ERA+ north of 100. Sabathia looks toast and Nova sucks.

Maybe it's a case of 1-run games? I know the Jays would be like 4 up on NYY right now if they had won even half the 1-run games they lost.Sometimes the way things seem and the way things are, are not the same. I seem to remember the Yankees losing a lot of low scoring games this year while having a few games get out of hand in their favor. From the stats you and Navamind put up here it looks like my memory is bad.
