Im not sold on ray or krol although krol has been adequate so far. I never think its a good idea to trade a solid, proven number two starter for prospects unless his contract is expiring and he wont be retained or you are rebuilding.

Other than Fister was a #4....

The Cubs have the money to sign Shields long term also, just a thought, and maybe Binford or Almonte.

Wouldn't they just pay Jeff if they were looking for a proven starter in return? (I haven't followed the Cubs shopping, so that's an honest question.)

Couldnt agree more about the fister comment and most fans agree. Torii has really went downhill. The tigers rotation will be fine when all is said and done. I wasnt expecting the max of last year and he will be adequate this year. JV will turn it around, he may have an injury or fatigue. Sanchez is better than average and porcello is adequate as a fourth starter.

Torii was over due.

Verlander won't turn it around, I too think he has a small tear somewhere that has got worse over the last 2 seasons.

A few years ago, pre shields, KC was ranked 20th or higher in team pitching, it wasn't because they had good pitching. The Tigers are ranked 25th in the majors and 12th in the AL with Minn and the White Sox next to them. The Tigers without the old Verlander will be average.

He's not the second starter in Washington either, is he? (He wasn't in Seatle.)

no.

he would be though if he pitched for the Mets, Braves, Marlins,Pirates,Cubs,Brewers, DBacks, Rockies,Padres, Yankees, Orioles, Red Sox, Twins, Indians, Royals, Angels,Rangers, or Astros.

great point and thought of it....but if you can get another prospect or two and still have a #1 you get more bang for your buck.

Fister currently 5-2, 3.08 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, only 5 walks in 49.2 innings.

Joaquin Benoit has a 1.47 ERA with 37 Ks in 30.2 innings.

Wish we could have BOTH back.

they guy has pitched with

King Felix
Pinada
Verlander
Max
Strausburg
Gonzales

all phenoms or cy young guys at that time

of course he hasn't been looked at as a number 2.....if he goes to the Dodgers next, pretty sure Kershaw/Grienke will be ahead of him also.

Finally lost...

Can't say I am thrilled about Nathan striking out the side to do it though...

Nathan hasn't missed many bats this season, that's for sure.

Cabrera and Vmart are glad to see KC leave town. 5 singles between them in the first three games, and only Cabrera's RBI double today.

KC pitching is legit. The hitting isn't as good as this torrid pace we're seeing lately, but a definite improvement.

Joe nathans job as the closer was on the line today. The team and him needed that....

I just read that was Sanchez's first career start in which he didn't strike out a single batter. And he gets the win. Go figure baseball sometimes.

royals......only Central team with a losing record against the central.

that 1 1/2 game lead is down to 1/2.

I said the under/over on the royals. on keeping first place was 3 games. I took the under.
lets see how they stumble ...being in first place.
Tigers went since last July in first place. never once since now has any body but the Detroit tigers led the Central. I can hear puckering already from KC. word

Why? Their rotation is still one of the best, they have the best hitter on the planet, and hell a rookie manager haha. They will be fine. Its a stretch to say it would be a modern miracle, you are losing what little credibility you have just to hate on a team you fear. The tigers very well could miss the playoffs, but it definitely will not be a miracle if they make it. Lets get some real fans of baseball in here.

Oh gosh, you're really sensitive..! are you female?

- The Tigers rotation is average. How you can sit there and say they're one of the best is comical. Tigers starters have been giving up anywhere from 7-10 ER's a start lately. Team ERA for starters is 3.98 which is 8th best out of 15 AL teams.

- Over the last 7 days, worst in the AL. 5.32 team ERA 42 ER in 71 IP

- The best hitter on the planet is Troy Tulowitzki, not on the Tigers..

- As far as saying it would take a modern day miracle, I was exaggerating my statements. This is a smack talk thread, people like you need to stop taking stuff to heart. Where is your sense of humor?

- Credibility and fear. I'm not here to gain any credibility from Tigers fans or anyone for that matter. It's an internet forum folks! I don't take this seriously and I'll never meet anyone from here. Second, as a diehard Yankees fan I don't 'fear' any team in baseball. Every time you say I fear the Tigers you make me laugh, literally.

- I'm as real as a baseball fan you'll come across, the difference is I like to talk smack and have fun during the long season. As I said earlier, try and pull your sense of humor from your ass, get a beer and some nuts, and have fun! Don't take what I say so seriously.

They won about 8-9 in a row against the central just now, I would hush.

I never want to see JD Martinez batting against the Royals again. Dude has killed us this series with his bat.

Oh please, the Royals probably felt bad and let the Tigers win today to save a bit of pride.

Tigers are 6-11 thus far in June, second worst record in the AL behind Tampa Bay. :bawling:
