only a matter of time, get him under the knife now...proactive
On the hate topic, my level is low lately. The white sox and yanks haven't really mattered in awhile. Youk plays overseas. The Nats shoot themselves in the foot enough. So that just leaves AJ and he's seemed to tone down his douchiness a little with age. Papelbon though, still hate that bozo. (The Cards fans are real annoying with the holier than thou crap.)
The decline in Teixeira's BA is really weird. It's not like he started striking out a lot.
Not worth the contract he got, but Tex was still a good player in 2010-12 (.252/.347/.484, 120 OPS+ with GG defense). And of course, Tex was very good in 2009. Yankees have had much worse contracts than the Tex one.

I still don't understand how people can hate the cards.
They are just a fantastically run organization that does the perfect blend of spending some cash but also developing young talent.
"great team"----...guess Oakland, Texas, ATL, CLE have "great teams"...they have all been to the playoffs lately?
The Houston Astros have even lost a WS.
I guess "great teams" can mean different things to different people, for Tigers fans, I could see the last 4 years as being "great teams" if you had to endure the back to back years of historic loss hell. I actually can see why it would appear that way. Guess calling the tigers teams "great teams" is about like Dayton Moore's mornic statement of "like we made the playoffs"...I guess I understand that it "feels" that way.
Factually, they haven't put up enough wins in a season for any historical significance, scored a record amount of runs, set a record with strikeouts, nor won a WS to even qualify in the realm of "great teams" but could definately probably qualify as "great Tigers teams", although, there have been some really great ones if you compare them.
Miggy-qualifies as "great"
JV-should qualify as "great" if he pulls his head out of Upton or whoevers ass for the last 1 1/2 years.
2 players have been great for the last 4ish seasons and if they survive their 30's better than most, might even and probably will go down as 2 of the greats to have ever played the game.
and a bonus.....Tigers fans might be able to talk up Nicky C, notice he is looking a bit Moustakish, which isn't good for EITHER team.
white sox and yankees have won a WS in the last decade...so I guess the Red Sox, giants and Cards have mattered?
Ok, got it.
The tigers are a great team, they go to world series, they have been constantly in contention for years, they are the favorites to win the world series, and THAT is why you see so many homer fans come out of the woodwork that wouldnt be here if this was the 2000 tigers. The same thing would apply to the royals if they were a force at any given point. I know reality about the tigers upsets you and Im sorry.
Derek has had an excellent career at SS and the numbers and accolades back it up.
Boston with Ted Williams there was also considered "great teams" take out Ted and the team isn't so great, zero rings...same applies to the Tigers and Miggy zero rings, heck even SF with Bonds zero rings...having a great player doesn't necessarily make a great team although its usually essential.
I will say the 2014 tigers might be the best "team" they have had in a very long time though. Much more complete and well rounded, more so because of the lower end guys have been upgraded. Davis, Kinsler, Nathan, whoever they run at SS over Inglesis. Coke though, lol, is still going to screw something up when it matters.
sorry da bums wrong again. Miggy does have a ring. he led the Marlins to a world championship. but good try
