I never would have guessed KC had lost more home games than Detroit. The things you learn courtesy of Dougie's posts......

I was kind of surprised as well at their home record when I saw it recently then when I thought about it kinda made sense.

Now there is probably no actually proof to back this up but it seems teams that are more about pitching/defense and close games are tough as hell on the road but then streaky at home. Maybe it's just because I know a lot of those Rays teams were tough as hell on the road and Tropicana is a shitty homefield "advantage".

But Royals are just one of those teams who even for the Twins are easy to play close, but they just do so many fundamental things right that they then win games. Which I think makes for good road play.

Is it just me, or do the Tigers seem to have a knack for blowing 3-4 run leads?

It's not just you. Though it was mostly Scherzer last night. Could not hit his spots to save his life. 124 pitches in 6 IP. The bullpen gave up 1 run in 5 IP.

some one got killed at my work today. hit the power lines with a boom of a truck. 16,000 plus volts.

so don't take a game to serious

Damn, just catching up and sorry to hear about that, doug. I work in the equipment rental industry, and we preach 360-degree awareness til we're blue in the face. Know your surroundings before beginning your work. Ugh, that's tragic.

The Verlander situation will work against Max Scherzer in his offseason negotiations. That and the fact that Max's ERA and WHIP are creeping back up toward his career marks, making 2013 look more like an anomaly. GMs/owners are gonna be leery about signing a 30-year old starter beyond 4-5 years. And Boras was pretty clear that Max wanted a 7-year deal after he turned down the Tigers offer.

Wade Davis has an ERA+ of 549.

This is getting to the obnoxious territory.

I remember Ubaldo Jimenez had an ERA+ around 500 back in 2010. He had a 0.93 ERA in his first 87.1 innings that year. Arthur Rhodes also had an ERA+ north of 1000 around June 2010. Of course, they both regressed. I remember arguing with Rockies fans on ESPN because they thought Jimenez' success was sustainable.

The Rockie fans over there were homers of epic proportions.

I'll never forget the time DinoRomanelli tried to bash Holliday (after he'd been traded of course) by saying that he wasn't trying and didn't care in his last season with the Rockies because he "saw it in Holiday's eyes whenever he'd bat."

There was also really stupid heated debate I got into with a couple of them where some Rockie fans tried to argue Garrett Atkins was better than David Wright.
