Orioles about to give Gallardo 45 mil over 3 years... That has to make anyone signing Ian Fucking Kennedy to a 5 year 70 mil deal want to puke.

LOL.. want to go down Kennedy's shit numbers again and explain how its worth 2 more years and 20 million more?
His 3.70 xFIP is very shitty, sure.

Regress his HR/FB% to his normal rates and he is more than fine. Had a similar profile in Ervin Santana and that worked out. Foresight.

Ian Kennedy has 9.30 K/9 and a 2.80 BB/9 and had an ERA of 3.63 as recently as 2014. Gallardo has a never ending tumbling K rate with his own inconsistencies in his BB/9 and HR rate. Kennedy's xFIP was 3.70 last year which bodes well for regression purposes.

And his peripherals were still ass. There's a good reason nobody wants to touch him as if he were a leper. His HR/FB% was also abnormally low by his career's standards. Miller park is also a homer friendly park.

normal rate? The guy has had at least a HR/9 rate of 1 or more at least 7 times. He always has been a fucking meatball thrower. What is normal? 1.3 HR per 9 instead of 1.7? LOL

We're not talking HR/9, we're talking HR/FB%.

17.2% last year vs his career average of 10.7% screams fluke.

yeah.. and kennedy was on fire to the point he was worth 70 mil over 5 years... hahahahahaahah who the hell else was in on him? Nobody. The Royals were desperate. They signed a complete shit bag to a contract they are going to regret like a mo fo soon.

It doesn't matter what his HR/FB% is when he gives up 25 HR+ all the time. He has been a full time MLBer for 8 years.. 4 of those years he has given up at least 26 hr.. that is ass.

I bet you Jordan Zimmerman has an ERA at least a full point lower than Kennedy's... want to take the bet?

Seriously.. there isn't anyone in their right mind that is going to argue successfully that giving Kennedy a 70 mil contract was smart... nor will they argue Kennedy is a good pitcher. You are going to be lucky to get Jeremy Guthrie numbers out of that clown.

3.70 x FIP vs 3.82 for Zimmerman. Not particularly all that different going forward with Zimmerman's declining K-rate.
Kennedy walks 3 batters a game and damn near gives up a HR for every start he is in... LOL.. seriously.. enjoy that piece of shit..

You might want to look up how many of Kennedy's meatball HR were multi run HR.. that is a fun stat in itself...

Fun Fact
Jordan Zimmerman has a HR/9 rate over 1 once in seasons where he was a fulltime MLBer.
Ian Kennedy has done that 7 times.
