That poetry was really flaming slinky. Pure ohioness.

As much as I've giggled about that limerick, I gotta apologize to you. In no way do I think you're gayer than Vice. Just busting stones.

I can sense Indian fan fear. Also I can sense iffy kissing up to Indian fan. All 17 of them
you realize the Indians are up 6 games- 7 in the loss column right and that the Tribe has OWNED the Tigers this year right?

I mean- i realize those are inconvenient facts- but they are facts nonetheless.

Lindor/Ramirez/Kipnis/Napoli is a helluva infield- wouldnt you agree?

The NL East, NL West and AL West threads were created in 2013. The NL Central thread was created in 2015. The AL East thread was created five days before our AL Central thread.

Combined, the other five division threads have existed for 4,152 days. Compare that to our 222 day existence.

We have 11,164 posts compared to the other threads' combined 4,944.

We're fuckin' badass. I think. . .

Well, we can only hope the Indians have the kind of collapse the Tigers had in 2009 ... 7 games up on the rest of the ALC when September started, and wound up losing the ALC Title to the Twins in Game 163.

I'm not confident of this happening in 2016, mind you, but history says it's possible.

Possible? Shit, if you what to look at what's possible in terms of late season collapses, look no further than the 2011 Red Sox AND Braves. It was fucking amazing.

I don't remember all the details, but I'm sure @navamind and @Chewbaccer could edify us.

SO...

Opening day lineup next year for KC assuming no trades

RF Paulo Orlando
3B: Mike Moustakas
DH: Cheslor Cuthbert
1B: Eric Hosmer
CF: Lorenzo Cain
LF: Alex Gordon
C: Salvador Perez
SS: Alcides Escobar
2B: Raul Mondesi

UIF: Whit Merrifield
Backup C: Butera
4th OF: Dyson
5th OF: Burns

Rotation:

Duffy
Ventura
Kennedy
Minor
Strahm?

Bullpen:

Davis
Herrera
Soria
Young
Vargas?
Pounders
...Someone else

KC needs to be willing to trade one of Hosmer, Moustakas, and Cain and probably should move Dyson at this point as well. There really shouldn't be a need for both Dyson and Burns to be on the same roster. Davis should be on the table as well with how bloated the reliever market is.

plus they still play eachother 7 times. Tigers win 5 or 6 of those it could without a doubt happen.

If the Tribe wins 3 of those games- or more- i think that would be it...

I don't remember the Sox/Braves details. I remember the '09 Tigers still had a 3 game lead with 4 games left in the season. They lost a series finale to the Twins (I went to that game in person, as it was a possible clincher), then lost 2 of 3 to the White Sox. Meanwhile, the Twins finished the season with 4 straight wins.

As bad as that was, it wasn't the worst sports time for me.

The Braves lost the Wild Card game after a blown infield fly call, UGA got blown out by South Carolina(though the season turned out to be pretty cool), The Broncos lost to the Patriots and I got damn lucky that Jeff Gordon didn't win at Talladega and finished second.

All in the same weekend of October 5-7th of 2012.

I almost gave up on sports.

The Red Sox & Braves both had, like, 9+ game leads for the wild cards starting September (I think the Red Sox might have even had the division at the time), and both blew the leads and missed the playoffs. Both were the largest September collapses in MLB history. That was the Red Sox whole "fried chicken and beer" September.

Fuck the Braves for 1995 and fuck the Red Sox for 2007 (and for being Yankees Lite).

The Braves lost the Wild Card game

I'm a HUGE fan of the new wild card format, but losing that game does suck balls.

I was at The Jake for their loss to the Rays in 2013. Amazing seats - about five or six rows back, just to the left of home plate - the crowd was outrageous because there were no Rays fans their because they're like unicorns, and they got spanked.

You're forgetting that with the exception of that recent four year run, the Tigers are thought of as the fucking doormats of the AL Central.
