You're right, they did win a national championship in '97. '48 was the last year they won a championship that another team didn't also win a championship.

Doug....actually I cheer for the Wolverines. I just give you a hard time about it because you don't see the ineptitude that came out of Ann Arbor over the recent seasons. During Wolverine/Spartan clashes I usually favor the UM, unless a win would help the Sparties more....which has been the case in recent years. BUT, DAMN!!!!! It is hard to stand out front and cheer for the Maize and Blue when you see how OSU has dominated them. And it just isn't the last dozen years. Even back in my time (Bo 'George Patton' Schembechler era and before) the Buckeyes were never a push over. Admit it doug....OSU has made the Wolverines their plaything!

See doug....there you go. If OSU is so "gloomy", how come so many polls have them ranked in the top 5 or 6...or at least ahead of Michigan? I am sure a lot of schools wished they were so "gloomy"!!!! LOL

Conversely, all but one of OSU's championships came after 1950.

It's an awesome rivalry, and Michigan has had some bursts of competitiveness, but the Buckeyes have more or less controlled it for the last seventy years.
