Talking about the Bums Story. Do you realize that Vice will FINALLY get it right about the Royals this season? After what? Three years after endless posts about how they would fail....and watching them succeed every year, even win a WS, he will finally be able to say, "I told you I was right all along!". That is if he can break away from all the big business deals he is brokering, as well as the time spent in the Marlin's bullpen.

I assume he's at the Olympics right now.

Maybe Royal's fans can enlighten me, but what is up with Hosmer's defense? Dude was a legit good 1st baseman a couple years ago and now he is ranked as the worst defensive 1st baseman by far. What happened?

Some of it is likely variance within the numbers that we usually see. I'd still assume he is an ok to decent defensive 1B normally. He's still elite as a stationary target in regards to length, scoops, etc (maybe even the best one) which has always netted him praise from scouts, but his actual range (especially towards the infield) is a bit suspect at times, imo. His athleticism is a bit deceiving.

Yeah I'm actually shocked to see the Tigers have a very good defensive infield across the board except at 3rd base. Too bad our OF is one of the worst in the league though.

Well. Detroit is just swapping players on the DL now. Get Zimmerman and JD Martinez back. Lose Castellanos (4-6 weeks), Zimmerman (15 day DL) and Maybin ( no DL, but missed the last 3-4 games with a thumb injury)

The bright spot. JD Martinez has been back for 4 or 5 games and has been directly responsible for 2 wins (PH HR off Sale to win 2-1 and throwing out Bruce at the plate to end the game 6-5 last night)

I think we can make do with the injuries we have right now, especially with the way JD has stepped up since he came back. We can't afford anymore though. As long as Sanchez keeps pitching like he has, we should leave Zimmerman on the side to completely heal up

I would have to check with doug - but I wonder if Sunday's loss coupled with the loss of Castellanos for 4-5 weeks and the loss of Zimmermann for who knows how long....could indicate the start of a downward spiral by Detroit?
