I do wonder how Terry Francona is perceived should the Indians have another underwhelming season

Ive always seen him as a bit overrated, having built a reputation after one great run with a loaded Sox team

I don't know about that. He took a 68-win Indians team and won 92 games when he came to Cleveland.

I think we've discussed this before.

it does crack me up that all the rhetoric on how crappy the Indians offense is and how great the Tigers offense is that the Tigers were 10th in the AL last year a mere 20 runs in front of the Indians.

i mean cmon, man.....lol.....

please tell us how many more hr's the tigers hit---- the only problem dude? ITS RUNS that matter- not HR's...
once again... are you forgetting the amount of games missed by the best hitter on the planet last year?

The Jays average wRC+ throughout the season was 117... Good luck.
the Jays scored over 200 runs more than the Tigers last year

The Tigers were 10th in the AL in runs last year

but their most important hitters are on the wrong side of thirty and only got older and they are going to jump up 9 spots

yes.. considering that miggy and vmart were hurt for a large part of last year.. i really don't think its out of the question.. but you are to retarded to understand why the tigers didn't score more runs.. even though they hit the ball and got on base better than just about every team.

Miggy and Vmart were hurt, then you replaced Cespedes with Tyler Collins for the last two months.

We have......The arrow was sorta pointing up on the Inidians team he took over.....Think this could be a big season for him.....He is a very liekable guy, and I think that buys him a lotta love from front offices

Yeah, and that's just the catch with all of these teams this year in this division. Whole crap ton of ifs in key positions. April can't get here fast enough as far as I am concerned. Any year where someone can competently argue that any of the 5 teams can win the division is in for a doozy.

who are the tigers good young players? anyone that is an impact guy? please dont say castellano or igleasias because i will laugh. decent solid average players....but i am at a loss as to one solidly above average position player on the Tigers that is young.
jd martinez is 28.. .upton is 28... iglesias is 26.... McCann is 25... Castellanos is 23....Daniel Norris is 22... Gose is 25...

I don't know if you think 28 is old.. but the majority of the tigers lineup is under 28. Only 3 players in their lineup are over 28....

Yeah, but those 3 are Ian Kinsler, V-Mart, and Miggy. Not exactly guys a team can easily survive losing. Two of those guys have had issues the last couple years staying healthy the entire season.

Miggy played 120 games last year

say you add 35 to that and give him almost a COMPLTELY healthy year- which is unlikely to happen

how many runs is that worth? MAYBE 20 extra runs over a replacement? and thats being EXTREMELY generous.

you dont go from 10th in the AL in runs- to first because your best hitter - who is aging and is as big as a freaking house now- can be assumed to be 100% completely healthy and give you an extra 35 games. PUHLEZE

Victor does seem to go good year-bad year- and last year was DEFINITELY a bad year- so he could bounce back...but he is really getting up there and can barely run anymore. it always freaking AMAZED me that a guy like Victor with like the worst wheels in MLB could hit over 300....no free base hits, no infield gimmes- everything earned and hes hit like that.

Didn
This from the guy who used to say we fans can't criticize the manager because we've never managed an MLB game ... now you portend to know how to build an MLB team. Fer chrissakes, at least be consistent.

I'm sure there is a plan in place. Yeah, to some extent, it appears they are more or less "collecting baseball cards", i.e. turning the card over and saying, "Wow, look at those stats!" with perhaps not much thought given to how that player fits with the team. But that doesn't lead me to think there is no plan.

Didn't say I knew how to run a franchise....just what I'd like to see. Sort of like picking red wine over white.

which means that if they stay healthy... odds are they improve greatly on what was already a good offense.

It might be worth noting that Bryce Harper had a better season at the plate last year at 22 years old, than Cabrera has ever had.
thats nice... 1 season.. cool story.
