One is a random dog days regular season game, one is a gold medal final. If the Giants-Cards game had the same events but it was game 7 of the NLCS, it would be more exciting.

Very true...although a better comparison might be a game 7 in which almost every out is a diving catch, and every hit is a blast off the center field wall. The match has been that entertaining so far.

From your description, accurately called. The foul in soccer is called "Deliberate Handling", but people often shorten it to "Hand ball". If the ball hits the hand or arm, that is not a foul. If the player deliberately plays said ball, there is an offense.

I am a traditionalist, but I am also a BIG proponent of replay in baseball, and even using pitchFX for ball/strikes.

Replay should be VERY restricted, though. If the play is active, it is not reviewable. On a play like that, where the play is over immediately, no reason for replay not to be used. And do not send the guys to the "magic box" to decide. Have a 5th umpire who handles these calls. No delay of game, increased accuracy of the calls. Win/Win.
