Game Thread: 7/20 Champs @ Priests

Serious question...

The Giants are not a slow team. We are not a fast team either, but outside of Posey, we have decent baseball speed.

So why do we play such station-to-station ball? I just don't get it, and can't explain it.

To avoid what just happened?

Probably a philosophy. I would love to see some more running, but that's way above my pay grade. I was excited when Blanco was signed, lo these many years ago, because he was an excellent defender and he was fast. I am still puzzled why he doesn't try and bunt for a hit more than he does.

He has been doing it more lately. But today reminded him that he is only about 700 HRs behind GOAT, so he needs to pick up his pace.



Seriously, though, Aoki has been a GREAT influence on him. How he missed the lesson with Scutaro I will never know.

How about that Belt bunt for a hit against the shift? That's pretty cool. We always yell at the TV, just put it over there by 3B....so he did!

UIt's not just him, a ton of leftie pull hitters could all start doing that, and the shift has to shift back. A strategy arms race. Belt could go 4-4 every day doing that until they give up.

-If Rubby De La Rosa EVER (seems doubtful) learns to consistently command his pitches, ARI has another great arm
-Nick Ahmed is sensational at short. Watching he and Crawford back to back should be considered baseball ****.

Now to watch the remainder of this game
