Crazy how good he is

Doesn't chase a pitch an inch off
He's 18th in the AL in % of swings on balls outside the zone. Crazy thing is, he's 4th WORST in making contact.

He's definitely very good (18th out of 89 qualified batters), but that is one part of his game that isn't currently elite.

I would have guessed the Dbacks crashed first
I said back then that I thought the Rockies would come back to earth. They had 4 rookies (Senzatela, Freeland, Hoffman, and Marquez) who were all pitching well. At least with the Diamondbacks, Robbie Ray, Greinke, and Walker have full seasons under their belt.

Yeah I do HAHA, there are 10 guys behind him ready to take his place.

Sox better get it done this year because they'll be eating Yankee dust for the next 10 years.
What's the Yankees rotation going forward?

Tanaka seems to be getting straightened out
Severino needs more consistency, but when he is good, he is unhittable
Pineda will be what he is, 1 good start out of every 3
Sabathia on his way back, and believe it or not, has been great
And of course the surprise of the season, Jordan Montgomery, who seems to give them a chance to win every time out, at least

Truth be told, only the Sox staff really has an edge over them, and thats mostly due to Sale, and a nice run here by Pomeranz...Porcello and Price is no better than what the Yankees are trotting out, and much worse in some cases

The Jays, Rays and O's all have their own problems with regards to everything

I thought their lineup would prevent long losing streaks, but apparently not

Jon Gray back this week, maybe that would help, but it does seem to be unravveling

I meant after this year, as my response was to the idea that the Yankees are going to be making the Sox "eat their dust" over the next 10 years. I've already proposed the question to you a little while back I believe. I'm sure Sabathia and Pineda are not part of the Yankees long term plan. Tanaka might have to be unless he turns a corner this year and decides to opt out.

Kaperlin going down this season was a big blow, he would have absolutely been up this season, and scouts have called him a top of the rotation guy

Severino
Kaperlin
Maybe Tanaka
Justin Sheffield
Chance Adams

Im not opposed to them bringing CC back for a one year team friendly deal

In the long term, something like that, but i do think the way the everyday lineup is shaping up, that they will have a lot of money freed up to spend on pitching alone, and that could be a good thing

So Montgomery isn't going to be part of their long term plans? Just curious if that is the feeling in New York.

And 3 of those guys haven't pitched above AA so we'll see. And Kaprielian was going to be in the rotation this year? With that little time in the minors? Interesting.

Forgot Montgomery, my bad, yeah, he is definitely part of the future

Kaperlin wasnt making it out of camp, but the talk was he would absolutely be a midseason call up

He also got hurt last season, and that was another season they projected he could come up

So obviously, he is a big injury concern

Severino and Montgomery have already shown the ability to pitch at the MLB level.

Kaprelian and this years first round pick Chase Schmidt are recovering from TJS.

Justus Sheffield (Miller trade), Chance Adams, Albert Abreu (McCann trade), and Dillon Tate (Beltran trade) are in the minors now. Then you have whatever free agents they might be interested in. With they money they have coming off the books they will be in an excellent position to get their man if they choose to go that route.

Yeah the Yankees seem to like him if they were talking about bringing him up after such a short stint in the minors. I remember when the Mariners seemed like they had an abundance of pitching. You know what they say, no such thing as a sure pitching prospect.

We can all list off pitching prospects. How do you feel about that going forward? Hope that a few of those pan out and fill in the holes with free agents?

No doubt about it....I think im more excited about the fact the money being freed up, they will be able to spend on pitching if need be....Dont think the Harper and Machado things are happening, dont think they need to happen at this point

Exactly, or trade a few while their stock is high for an established starter.

Not needing too and "being able to" are 2 different things. With money (and we all know the Yanks like to spend - and why they hell not) it is still a possibility that one or two of those guys are signed.

Not sure why I am thinking the Nationals will pony up the $400 million for Harper... but I am

Edit - Assuming Headley's current replacement doesn't pan out

I can't speak for all Yankee fans but I threw him to the curb the day after he signed here, I never understood that move. We already had a player just like him in LF.
