Tonight marked the second time Peavy has allowed one hit or less while not allowing a run over at least 7 IP. Also did so 8/30/14 vs. MIL

Mark Bowman@mlbbowman
Peavy has thrown 77 pitches while facing the minimum over seven scoreless. He'd completed 7 IP in just 4 of his past 29 starts.

For a while, I have thought that we have some pretty promising LOOGY's. Aside from JLO, there are Osich and Okert, but neither of them have been very good so far. Both have power arms, but I don't know why they are struggling so much.

A lot of guys struggling throughout the system this year. The rosiness of 2015 (with the prospects) may be fading. Makes guys like Rogers, Mejia and Coonrod all that much more exciting (or, if you go with the opposite perspective, leery).

I was hoping they'd be more than LOOGYs

Rogers is having a great year, but his is 26 (I think), and this is his second go round at Richmond. He started there last year and was terrible, and so went back down to San Jose. I have hopes for him. Coonrod and Mejia look good.

Side note, I peeked at the San Jose score today, and Coonrod's ERA was over 4.00. I thought, "What they heck? He pitched yesterday and his ERA is sub-2.00!" Then I realized this was the continuation of the April 8 game that had been suspended.

Yeah, poor Coonrod might get a loss today, even though he hasn't pitched.
