I think the Brewers have more of an incentive than most think. IMHO the Dodgers have the best pitching of all the NL teams. The Brewers have an opportunity to force them into a WC game. That sets up a possibility of the best NL pitching team to be eliminated in 1 game. I think the Brewers would much rather face us than them when all is said and done. I just feel they match up better to us than LA.
I agree. Its what I've thought for the last week or so as well. If you have the power to push your greatest perceived threat on getting to the WS into a harder road in the playoffs, why would you not do it?

My thoughts exactly. I even posted almost this exact post a few days back. LOL

The difference between the WC road and the Div road is more impactful than that, though. Not only does the WC team face a 1-gamer, but they also have a 2-3 HFA instead of a 3-2 HFA. Having game 5 at home can be big.

WOW ..... I never even considered the HFA angle .... all we need is the Brewers to take 1 game and we take 1 game .... not a gargantuan task ... but as a fan of a team that has won 105 games ...it just seems as if every step of the way has been stressful ... 3 to play ... the BRIB .... and we still haven't clinched the division yet .... this is the 'definition' of every game counts. Going into 160 and still counting ...

I hope we clinch tonight. There aren’t any valid images for a M# of 1…

Darrel Thomas only wore 1 for one season with the dogs, and I couldn’t find any images of that. Lindstrom played one season with dogs and apparently wore #1 for them, but there aren’t very many images at all of that, let alone with his jersey number visible.

I even tried going the opposite direction, but Lofton is the only that qualifies, but I couldn’t find any images of him with his jersey number without other numbers at least AS prominent as his.

Pee Wee Reese wore #1 for the Dogs
Gregor Blanco wore # for us

Blanco never played for the dogs. Reese never played for the Giants.
Oh ... I get it now ... has to have played for both teams ....
Did he have to have the same number for both teams
Talk about a difficult task!!!!!!!!!!!

Only way the Giants end up in the WC game WITHOUT a 163 is for them to be swept by the Pads and the dogs to sweep the Crew.

We are absolutely in the drivers seat for this thing.

It isn’t that difficult, actually. I just look at all the players to have worn said number for them, then try to find a player on that list who played for the Giants at some point in their career.

Finding good images can be daunting, but I can usually find SOMETHING. “1” is just a dead end, unfortunately.

Only 2 players qualify for “1”. Lindstrom played in the 20s and Thomas wore 30 for much of his time with the dogs.

Neither of those are valid, imho. You can hardly see the number.

Not sure why Thomas is wearing “1” instead of “30” in the reunion pic. He wore “30” for multiple seasons and “1” for only 1 season.

You're a tough judge.

9.9, 9.9, 9.8, 10.0, 9.9...and the cal snow judge has 8.8.
