Not sure I understand why Boch wants to drop Panik in the order in favor of Pence in the 2 (based on his comments yesterday). OBP is less important lower in the order, and SLG is less important in the #1 and #2 spots.

I like Pence batting somewhere 3-6 and I like Panik in the #2.

I think the idea wasn't to get Herk into the 2 spot, but rather Oxy. That way, we have our three speed guys hitting 1-2-3.

I prefer JP in the 2 hole as well; I think he's the best situational hitter in the lineup, although Duffman is impressive in that regard as well.

I was basing my post on Boch's comments, where he specifically said he really liked Pence in the 2-hole.

I also think Pagan' SLG ability is better set to 6/7 or 3 than 2.

Regardless, I trust Boch, and think it is a great problem to have where pretty much everyone in the lineup could put up a legit argument for the 3-spit, and therefore, also the 8-spot.

There will obviously be regression this year. There is zero chance we end the season with 8 starters hitting .290 or better. But I think everyone is playing at least close their capabilities.

I gotta say, Duffy's AB in the 8th was quite possibly the greatest AB I have ever seen in my life.

We all know he is a smart player who studies the game between ABs and learns real fast. But I had no idea HOW fast this kid absorbs and adjusts. He made huge, mid-AB adjustments that were clearly visible in that AB.

That is the type of thing you would see from Gwynn, Brett or Williams. This kid just might be something very special.

It looks like Duffy has put on a few pounds this year from last. Any info on that? He looks stronger this year and at least 5 pounds heavier.
