Flyers trade Cooper Marody (former 6th round pick) to Edmonton for a 3rd rounder in 2019.

Think this is a "we have too many forward prospects" type deal. Interesting. Marody was having a great year at Michigan.
"We have too many forward prospects" so why not use them in a deadline deal to guarantee this years team makes it into the playoffs so we can give the youth on this team a break at the end of the season to be fresh for a playoff run and guarantee they get some playoff experience?

Honestly not going to fight you on that one. If you were going to move Marody, would've rather seen them move him for help this season than a 3rd rounder in 2019.

Twitter seems to think the Flyers were going to struggle to sign him. Likely no room for him next year, so he plays out his senior year at Michigan, then he's a FA next summer.

Risk you run with some of the NCAA guys, especially in later rounds. Not saying he did this, but Marody could've easily said NHL or NCAA next year, no AHL. Then he's got the right to go to FA next summer and pick his fastest route to the NHL, which probably wouldn't be the Flyers.

If he waited until we had no choice to either sign him to the NHL or trade him good riddance!

If Hexy knew of this before the deadline dumb move not to do it then.

I don't blame Mrazek here and I certainly don't think Lyon is a better option overall...Lol

In two of Mrazek's last three starts, we didn't even begin to play hard until after he was pulled.

The team is not performing in front of him right now and his stats are taking a huge hit for it.

Pretty tough luck, for the most part.

Obviously we choked away a point against Detroit, but to essentially play hard against them for just one period and still get a point also is a credit to the potential of this team overall.

Play to the potential more often and you just never know where they can go or what they can accomplish when they get there. It's why we could get swept in round one or go out and surprise a couple teams. Either way, it will be more experience and something to learn from.

No way we dont need a guy who's averaging just about a point a game with his new team and has size and toughness that we sorely need.

The Rangers are starting Staal, Skjei and essentially 4 rookies with 35 Nhl games or less on defense right now.

This has to be a win tonight for us on home ice.

I want to beat the Rags like 6-2 tonight and establish dominance early and often.

If we lose to the Rags tonight heads better roll in that locker room.

With the Panthers playing the Jackets tonight and the Devils playing the Penguins tomorrow night, getting two points tonight goes a very long way toward securing a playoff spot and also avoiding the final wild card position.

Two of those teams have to lose, obviously, so we will gain on both. We absolutely do not want to see any overtime in those contests, however, or ours for that matter.

Whats the return policy on him?

Idk, but I'll find out if we first confirm that you won't bitch more about not buying at the deadline upon his return to Detroit.

Can't have your cake and eat it too.

Check out "The Accolade Index."

ESPN ranks the top teams in the cap era of hockey, which is since 2005. No surprise, Pittsburgh is at the very top of the list by a mile. Here's the very first sentence of their description:

"Landing Marc-Andre Fleury, Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby in the top two spots of the draft in the preceding three seasons obviously gave the Penguins a huge head start on the salary-cap era."

Uh, we have a BINGO!!

We are ranked 15th btw, but presumably coming on strong.

Either way, this is the founding reason as to why Pittsburgh has become a perennial powerhouse, Cup contending team, not because they simply buy at every deadline. That's just something they now have the luxury of being able to do.

Pittsburgh having three picks in 2005(13 full seasons ago) has nothing to do with us standing idle at this years deadline. They can have those three players but if they dont make moves at the deadline the last few years they dont win a cup period.

Now we have a BINGO!

We are ranked 15th and you are handing us a cup next year and the year after, forget about those other 14 teams they dont mean anything.

We have a 2nd BINGO! DOH!

Nobody is handing anyone a Cup and I'm pretty sure not too many would agree with you on that whopping assumption in bold.
