So reports yesterday said vic fangio wanted out if the HC wasn't mike Shanahan or himself. We'll have to see of those were right now.

I like it. He coaches up the players drafted for him well. He was a head coach in NFL Europe and the players love him. I just hope he keeps Fangio and gets a good OC.

All joking aside..this has shades of Singletary all over it, A high intensity motivator, who has no significant coordinator time at the NFL, 49ers could be entering the dark ages again...I hope I'm wrong.

i say give him a fair shot. you dont have to be a coordinator to be a good coach. i know that is the normal path but head coaches mostly need to be a fixed point on the team, a source for everything else to revolve around. a motivator and a guy that the team can believe in.

ok im off my soap box lol

Very strange hire.

BTW- There was rumors in AZ that Fangio would be interviewing for the AZ DC job.

If you follow the 49ers closely this was not a huge surprise.....It was either Gase or Tomsula neither was gonna be a big splash hire.

If you guys get Fangio I might seriously cry..that guy has been an absolute miracle worker with the amount of injuries we had on defense this season.

I know nothing about the guy. What are 49ers' fans honest thoughts?

Seems like he's a players coach which can help to an extent (getting guys to play hard for you is crucial in the NFL) but what's the rest of his track record like?

Good video,
"experience coaching players with down syndrome" Gotta let that go.

Seems like a good guy.

Jim seemed like a hard guy to like, a know it all, my way or the highway type of guy and too compulsive with decisions at the NFL level....
He did have pretty good success, so it makes you wonder why they would part ways with him with 3 out of 4 playoffs and a SB appearance....
This guy seems much more likable but that don't mean he'll be as successful....We'll see !!
