Great win, and a quicky. 2 hours, 20 min. Nearly perfect game from a pitching stand-point, great when you have a spot-starter going who finds out after BP.
The night started with a slip of the knife in the snack room from Matt Cain who cut his right index finger making a sandwich. No problem just tap Yusmeiro Petit on the back durring BP and tell him the team needs a start from him . Petit stepped to dance floor mound and put on a salsa session that dazzled the Padres . They were mesmerized by Petit's moves all night as he shut them down for 6 superb innings on 72 pitches. No ER on 3 hits and everyone felt like dancing in the dugout and watching from the park or at home.
Pagan did his thing and blasted a HR down the left field line rounding the bases with a salute to the team in the dugout. Posey followed in the 1st inning with a long HR to left. Hector Sanchez had the hit of the night, a 2 out knock that scored two runs and stretched the lead to 4-0. Crawford singled in a run in the 3rd and Sanchez finished the scoring in the 5th inning hitting a sac fly to left.
It was a warm night that had to feel like Petit was home in Maracaibo, Venezuela . The crowd was juiced for him and you could almost here the salsa play loud in the clubhouse after the game. Another night to remember not only for the fans but for the 29 yr old from Venezuela who danced his dance and did his thing. In a jam ...just tap Petit on the back and tell him the team needs him. A great ballgame by the entire team.
