Melky getting on base. Of course, Panda has to take some pitches for him to have the chance to steal.

He took off a couple of times today, but Panda flied out once and fouled one off, if memory serves.

Thanks and agreed. (Again, I'm young I need to catch up on these things :))

In fairness, though, context is important. The Spahn-Marichal game didn't have much at stake. It is too bad the Magic Juan never got to pitch in a WS game in his prime. He did start Game 4 of the 1962 series, and pitched 4 shoutout innings, but got pulled, and I don't know why.

Jack Sanford pitched a 3-hit shutout for us in that series in game 2. He later lost Game 7, 1-0, to Ralph Terry, the game that featured McCovey's game ending, bases loaded line drive snagged by Bobby Richardson. Viewers said if it was a foot higher, it would have been a home run, it was hit that hard.

With meaningfulness thrown in, I'll take Timmeh's 2010 WS Game 5 closeout anyday.

Best freaking regular season game I ever saw. Cainer was DEALING today. The crowd was electric all day. My son and I got to the park 2 hours before game time and never left our seats the entire game.

Now that's how you open the season at home!

No downers - just gotta get Timmy, the beard, and someone at the top of the lineup on track.

I like Belt but think he may struggle until Huff goes next year and 1B is fully his. Don't think he's too comfortable taking the veteran's spot.

By the way, dos anyone know why the Pirates walked Huff intentionally to get to Schierholtz in the 6th inning? I ASSume that they knew something that I couldn't see at the game. But it looked like Nate was swinging the stick every bit as well as Huffer. Thanks.

Great game by Cain. He pitched his arm off tonight. Great job.

Giants are also scoring a ton of runs this season it seems.

This.

I saw Halicki no-hit the Mutts and Durty no-hit the Fraudres, but this was the best pitched game I've ever seen. It was over so quickly, and you never got the sense that the Bucs were going to ever do anything.
