As for Dudley's actual criticism, it is fair but limited because, IMO, Simmons is limited by the game plan that Brett Brown implements. In particular, Brown's hatred of the pick and roll limits Simmons value. Putting Simmons in the dunker spot while Embiid drives to the hoop really limits half court value.

I doubt Dudley cares about retaliation. At this point in his career he is just a veteran bench player. Seems like he is just trying to get in the young kids head and it isn't a bad idea. There have been a lot of guys that were no names in the past that have criticized even star players. It's just a head game.

If Dudley provokes Simmons and they both get technicals, that's a win for Dudley.
The game tonight might give us a glimpse into the future of Simmons and Brown.
If they can set those picks on his man in the paint and Simmons gets to the hoop with ease, no big deal. Let's see how Brooklyn adjusts to the physicality.

I didn't mean physical retaliation. Honestly, I doubt that Ben Simmons thought twice about those comments.
