Nice to see Mac on the bench after the game he had last night. That will teach that rookie a thing or two about getting base hits.

I was thinking the EXACT thing.

I am good with Parker getting PT, but come on. Play Mac! He SHOULD start over Pence next year (but he won’t).

I wish you were wrong. But this is the same team that thinks Sandoval has "done great" this year. Alas, you are probably right.

The only way Pence loses his job is if Mac and Parker both put up MVP-level numbers while playing once-a-week each AND Pence goes down for more than a month while both Parker and Mac continue putting up MVP-level numbers.

But even then, Pence can’t lose his job due to injury, so he will still get 5-days a week PT.

Dude, obviously veteran presence trumps production any day because veteran presence always produces, even when it doesn't produce. Lack of production isn't always unproductive.

Amazing catch. But umpires need to communicate the call on the play better.

If you like scary, there is this:

Sandoval impressing Bochy in bid to earn 2018 roster spot

From the article:

Sandoval hasn’t exactly torn the cover off the ball since arriving back in San Francisco, but over the past week, the 31-year-old native of Venezuela has picked up his pace in an effort to prove he belongs on a Major League roster in 2018.

If it’s up to Sandoval, he’ll play for the Giants. By the sounds of it, manager Bruce Bochy would love to give him that opportunity.

“You know what, he’s been playing good baseball, he’s been swinging the bat well,” Bochy said Monday. “He had the one home run in LA but if you look at his last couple of weeks, it’s really picked up with the bat and his approach at the plate has been so much better. He’s played good defense, he’s been great to have around, so I think he’s done well for himself since he’s been here.”

I am somewhat OK with Sandoval coming to ST as an NRI, but no way should he stay on the 40 through the Rule V.

Between Sept. 17th and 22nd, Sandoval went 8 for 15 with 2 doubles, 2 home runs, 5 RBIs and no walks. Take out that 4 game stretch and Sandoval slashes .165/.185/.244 since August 1st, when he returned. But those 4 games boost his slash to .204/.240/.306. Not sure how 4 games equals a couple of weeks, but okay. And why am I targeting those 4 games? Because outside of them, Sandoval has gone 2 for 40 in the month of September, with only one extra base hit. He is 0 for 6 with a walk in the two games after them and was 1 for 16 in the five games before them. That time period equals to 2 weeks on the calendar. So the last two weeks Sandoval has slashed .243/.263/.447. So really, the Giants have made their decision on the basis of 4 games.

No. The Giants have made their decision based on Panda hat sales.

Seriously, though...

Do people still buy those? I can’t imagine Sandoval is good for the gate, so what is the thought process?
