I saw that someone suggested they don't use any of the ones from preseason (7 goals in 3 games).

Ha that is funny.

I think we might as well get used to scoring at a pace of 7 goals in 3 games. If you look at our forwards as a whole we aren't that good so we must rely on defense and goaltending with the forwards chipping in.

Maybe it is, as the writer states - to give him a bunch of preseason games with phantoms and he goes back to flyers next weekend

Not sure if it was brought up earlier - Patrick signed 2 year extension with Vegas at $1.2MM per year

That's a cheap contract for a number 2 draft pick. I guess he got paid from his performance last year.

The few times I saw him he sucked worse than Braun, so he's got that going for him.

Couturier for 8 years at $62 million or Barkov for 8 years at $80 million?

Very similar players. Both big, strong, top line centers that are elite everywhere, especially defensively. Give the nod to Barkov offensively and given that he's a couple years younger.

That said, I love the bang for your buck that we are going to get with Couturier. It just goes to show us that he probably could've gotten equal pay to what Barkov just got. Instead, we save that $18 million and build a better team around Sean.

That matters too because while Florida looks like they've put all of their chips at the center of the table for this upcoming season, they appear to be in absolute salary cap hell beyond that. $5.3 million in cap space the following season with only 14 players signed, including $6.575 million of dead cap money.
