That's insane...Lol Idk how they are even going to field a team in 23/24 and 24/25 with nearly $15 million in dead cap space both seasons.

Heh ya. The only way it makes sense is if they want to tank and start over. Get a little flexibility this year and be a dumping ground for cap space and acquire picks and stuff. Keep Eriksson Ek, Kaprizov, Greenway, and Fiala and basically start over other than that.

They can't honestly expect to compete in 23/24 and 24/25 with a cap of like 67M. And they won't be able to add new contracts that go longer than the next two seasons. They're trapped essentially. I'd be looking to unload Spurgeon and Brodin too. By the time they recover those guys will be old and overpaid.

Try to take advantage of teams needing to clear cap space with the flat cap and just suck for a few years. Maybe the lottery falls in your favor and you get a potentially generational player in Bedard in '23.

What a mess!

Not a bad thought as he only makes 4.5 mill per for the next two years but who would we trade for him?
They need cheap bodies, and they have enough talent to make up for lesser talent that they can take risks on. Patrick plus ...

We'd have to clear cap space to take on $4.5 million and send Patrick who will make far less than that to do this trade.

I'd certainly be interested in Killorn. Probably won't have a shortage of suitors. Good style fit and love the cup experience.

I hope they are both gone by the time the season starts.

Greedy! :D

I'm open to it, but I think they will struggle to replace the offense of losing both of them in one offseason. Or finding guys to fill those holes in the forward group. Moving one gets them the cap space they need to address the holes on defense.

This is 100% the case. We will struggle to replace their offense but at least we got two contracts off the books (hopefully) that otherwise we would be stuck with. We will struggle for at least 4 more years with or without them and if we can get rid of them sooner we can win a cup in 4-7 years. My time frame has never wavered.

Ladeskog could be on the move out of Colorado if an extension isn't done soon. Just saw it on Twitter. That's a guy I would love on our team.

I said weeks ago we could sign him as a star on our team and you said we have no chance in hell to sign him. :dhd:

Don't throw mall under the bus! I said that. And I still say that. There's no way in hell he leaves Colorado.
