Tarasenko is available. Does anyone have interest in trading for him?
Was listening to NHL radio. Commentator was all up in arms that Tarasenko doesn’t bring the intensity to his game anymore. Basically said “on again / off again”. We don’t need a part time player

Sounds to me like Chris likes the guys on the Flyers more than he lets on! Shooting down all the trade proposals! :D
It's not that, but we need something big as always and all I ever hear or see is patchwork moves being talked about. I mean if the front office thinks the product we have now is solid then I gotta scratch my head and wonder what their looking at? Players like Tarasenko, Bertuzzi etc are just players that we would take to help other teams with ridding themselves of those player. IDK I guess I'm just holding out hope for something big and impactful.

We need at least three impactful players without giving up anyone of value to us to just have a chance at winning a cup next year. This is why Fletcher is in an impossible situation this summer.

What do you mean by impactful then? Tarasenko is a pretty big name and would be pretty impactful if he's healthy. More impactful guys just aren't available because nobody wants to move them. There's a lot of names out there that would greatly help the Flyers IMO. But it's pretty unlikely for any team at any time to trade for a superstar. Eichel maybe this year, but there's tons of risk with him too with his contract/injury status.

Minnesota buying out Parise and Suter. Yowza.

That creates 4.6M, 12.4M, 14.6M, 14.6M in dead space the next 4 years, then 1.6M through 2028-29. Holy shit. Starting the tank for Bedard in 2023 early!

Also could take Dumba off the board. They can protect him now that they don't have to protect Suter.

Just that, Tarasenko is a question mark at this point. I don't want to deal for a maybe, like you said, there are a few impact players out there, I just hope we can land one instead of filler rolls that keep us in the middle of the pack. I know it's not a magic wand situation but I think at this point it's worth every effort to shoot for the moon.

Suter would be a good pick up, maybe Fletch has a little upperhand.

I’m with you on shooting for the moon. They need top of the lineup talent. But just trying to keep it realistic, they’re going to have to accept some risk on those moon-shots. Top of the lineup talent, with no risk, isn’t available. Their current teams label them untouchable, just like we do with Couturier.

I have created situations on this board for other defenseman better than Suter and got turned down because they werent righty and Suter is lefty

This applies to Suter to me as well. The way the roster shakes out, LHD doesn't help. The same group of guys in Zamula's way for playing time is the same group of guys that makes adding Suter a luxury, not a need. Suter would be an upgrade on everyone on the left side of the defense other than Provorov, but is it worth the cap space there if it limits your ability to address other areas?

They need to fix the right side of the defense first. And IMO they need to change the mix of players up front before they address the left side of the defense as well.

I like Suter and his experience. I think he'd help the team. But someone else is going to prioritize it more than the value he'd bring to the Flyers.

Does anyone think we are talking to Calgary about Gaudreau?

I do, because I think Fletcher is talking to Calgary. They're in a similar boat, in need of a shakeup.

Gaudreau would be exciting, because he's an exciting player. But to me, he's not the right fit for the Flyers. Another pass-first, smaller guy. They need shoot-first, crash the net, speed guys. And some size would be good too.

But a deal based on Gaudreau for Voracek could have some appeal. Shakes it up. Get rid of one pass-first guy to replace him with another. Change of scenery for both. There would have to be other pieces because Gaudreau is only signed through next year (6.75) and Jake has 3 seasons left at 8.25M. Similar offensive production, probably a similar mediocre defensive game. Gaudreau is 27, Jake is 32.

I would trade Voracek and Zamula or Voracek and Lindblom plus a pick for Gaudreau in a heartbeat.

Is that more out of wanting to move Jake or wanting to acquire Gaudreau? Johnny Hockey seems to fit everything you don't like about hockey players. Offensive first, small, streaky, inconsistent defensively.

I think there's a place for him if the Flyers re-shape the forward group a bit, but I'm surprised you're interested. Jake and Gaudreau have very similar offensive numbers the past couple years and are fairly one dimensional. Adding Zamula, or Lindblom+pick, is a lot to add for a pretty similar player that's just a little cheaper.

Clearing 11.75 million in cap space for Jake and Lindblom and getting back 6.75 in salary from Gaudreau gives us a lot of money to sign a big scoring forward and a big heavy fourth line forward.

That's insane...Lol Idk how they are even going to field a team in 23/24 and 24/25 with nearly $15 million in dead cap space both seasons.

A quote from Fletcher:

“There will hopefully be some exciting additions to our club over the next couple months, and probably a few moves around the league that your normally wouldn’t see because of expansion and the flat cap,” Fletcher said.

Among the players who could be on their radar: right-handed defensemen Dougie Hamilton, Seth Jones, Adam Larsson, and David Savard; center Jack Eichel; wingers Brandon Saad, Johnny Gaudreau, Patrik Laine, and Gabriel Landeskog; and goalies Linus Ullmark and Jonathan Bernier.
