This is from a paragraph in the Athletic and it says it all:

Any aggressive retool that doesn’t involve a massive push on Fletcher’s part to dramatically increase the team’s talent level is ultimately window dressing. But any dramatic push to add that type of talent runs the very real risk of putting the Flyers in even worse shape long term if said aggressive retool — already a serious long shot to work — fails, necessitating a true rebuild in its wake that suddenly becomes even more difficult to execute in an efficient way.

And anyone still watching the Flyers and their futility this past weekend has no choice but to be extremely skeptical that any quick fix can solve all that ails this club.

Yup. Good article in general. Talks about how difficult it would be to thread the needle to make this a quick turnaround.

Well I hope this team gets it shit together sometime soon, my old ass may not be around to see a cup raised here soon lol. Just got back from the doctors where I learned that I have suffered two mini strokes in the last 2 months, worse part about these things is when they can't tell you why? Def a different diagnosis than I was expecting, thought maybe low blood sugar or diabetes even though I'm in pretty good shape for a 57 year old?

Not sure edibles is what they prescribe but you never know lol. They didn't seem super concerned yet as they say this happens to thousands of people every year, which in it's self is kind of scary.

Yikes man. That's a tough doctors' visit. Hope you get that sorted out and hopefully don't see any more of those!

They seemed to think it was something due to a trigger reaction to something, lol. Great diagnosis huh. The first one was the worst, I actually blacked out and fell face first in my kitchen. I guess if I have another one soon I get to go visit specialist in Colorado Springs. Hopefully we don't get there.

Seattle has 7 games left and we have 5 games left.

Who would get the higher draft pick if we tied them in points at seasons end?

Pretty sure the tied breakers are used for end of year standings regardless if you're at the top or the bottom, so what I pasted below would determine standings (1 - 32). Then you get the lottery balls based on where the team ended up ( 17 -32 - I think )

  1. The fewer number of games played (i.e., superior points percentage).
  2. The greater number of games won, excluding games won in Overtime or by Shootout (i.e., "Regulation Wins"). This figure is reflected in the RW column.
  3. The greater number of games won, excluding games won by Shootout. This figure is reflected in the ROW column.
  4. The greater number of games won by the Club in any manner (i.e, "Total Wins"). This figure is reflected in the W column.
  5. The greater number of points earned in games against each other among two or more tied clubs. For the purpose of determining standing for two or more Clubs that have not played an even number of games with one or more of the other tied Clubs, the first game played in the city that has the extra game (the "odd game") shall not be included. When more than two Clubs are tied, the percentage of available points earned in games among each other (and not including any "odd games") shall be used to determine standing.
  6. The greater differential between goals for and against (including goals scored in Overtime or awarded for prevailing in Shootouts) for the entire regular season. This figure is reflected in the DIFF column.
  7. The greater number of goals scored (including goals scored in Overtime or awarded for prevailing in Shootouts) for the entire regular season. This figure is reflected in the GF column.

I found this while searching but i dont know how accurate it is since they have us in third from last when the Kraken are in that spot right now . Maybe they are projecting us to finish third from last.

Flyers missed the playoffs only 8 times in the first 45 years of existence.

We have now missed the playoffs 6 of the last 10 years.

Hmmm, wonder if there's a management problem from top to bottom.:rain:
Ed Snider sold majority interest in 1996, sold his remaining share in 2016.

IMHO corporations do not have anything but profit motive in owning anything. Private owners want to win championships.

Very true about the corporations, it's a sad situation because it will probably have to end up not putting fans in the area for serious changes to occur.

That’s the only thing making them look at it now. You e got me thinking - going to research and will get back on the subject (loss revenue due to reduction in paid tickets & see if I can find lost advertising revenue)

Parent company is public so there might be something in their financial statements. It might be buried, but what the hell - will be fun to look.

Last one on the ownership topic.

Clip from article on 76er ownership.

In the next 11 years, under Katz’ ownership, the team won one NBA title and was a contender for some time. However, due to the rise of Michael Jordan and the Bulls, the 76ers could never achieve their full potential. By 1996, Comcast-Spectacor purchased the team from Harold Katz for $120 Million.

Under Comcast-Spectacor, Philly struggled a lot and due to not achieving anything significant for 15 years, then entered Joshua Harris and the Blitzer group in 2011.”

Hmmmmm. Common theme here !
