I think we are treating this RBs like shark teeth. Lose one and another comes right behind it. We keep the pipeline going with mid or late round picks like McIntosh & Martinez, maybe an occasional earlier pick like Walker & Charbs. Walker is gone next year, Charbs moves into the top RB role (if it doesn't happen this year), the other guys move up 1 spot on the depth chart, and the cycle continues.

I like the idea of getting Walker in his contract year, so at this point I would be surprised if he's traded.

Agreed. JMR I can't remember if you were part of the discussion, but I think basically everyone here was like, "Look if you can get a 3rd or even 4th, trade him." But nobody is giving that up, especially with how good the draft capital was for RB. So might as well just keep him lol.

MAYBE he can be worth a mid season trade to a contender (although we might be that contender). Sad to see Walker go, but he just can't stay on the field reliably.

Yeah, dealing him may have made sense for a reasonable price. The run game on the whole has made a bit of a comeback the last couple seasons, but the market for individual players is still fairly tepid. What we may get from Walker during a contract year might be much greater than what was (or would have been) offered in a trade, so we are in an ok spot.

I agree...

And watch it be one of those things we trade him... and then Charb goes down, McIntosh re-aggravates his 2023 injury, and Martinez catches a bad flu...

I swear our luck with healthy runningbacks has been terrible the last several years. I still think Milroe is going to get some running action and certain plays. I think Seattle will absolutely line him up at QB (Mike has indicated that's his target position), but for more redzone or short yardage situations.

Should be fun watching Martinez and Milroe in preseason though.

It all depends on the cost. Letting Abe and Woolen walk creates 2 pretty big holes on the roster. You really want to avoid having to keep replacing starters every offseason.
It does but if Abe is only going to play half the games again - do you want to give him an extension?

I am shocked with the amount of hate you all throw at Woolen when he is our best cover corner on the team. CB are not supposed to make tackles on RB's thats not their job.
