They trade for Mike Williams, who plays the same position as Pickens, with the same general skill set.

Then only play him for 15 snaps in a game where Pickens is out. Van and Calvin both had 35. Barely outsnapped Skowronek and Miller (10 each).

Doesn't make sense. May as well have not traded for the guy.

"Jumping on a moving train" blah blah blah

Also have to question when they decided to feed Patterson last game instead of the more explosive Warren.

Been seein a lot of questionable malpractice this year.

Classic Tomlin late-season collapse where he backs into the playoffs and we get to watch another embarrassing first-round exit.

I feel so spoiled myself.

I didn't even bother to watch the game on Christmas day. I knew what the fuck was going to happen. I checked in sometime in the 2nd quarter, just in time to see a TD called back on a holding penalty, that turned into an interception in the EZ. Shut it off and enjoyed my day.

But hey, Tomlin still has never had a losing season. Just wasted a bunch of talent's prime years. People like Heyward and Watt have been prevented their entire careers from sniffing a Superbowl by a fraud.

It's entertaining to see our WR's continue to embarrass this team. That's a classic Tomlin tradition.

If he's lucky, he'll pull another fraud team in Houston for the wildcard game. Might have a chance there.

Making the move from Beanie Bishop, who had been proving he belonged all year.... in favor of Burnt Sutton has been a disaster.

Late season collapse. Go figure.

At least now the world won’t set any lofty expectations on the Steelers only to watch them give up 40+ points on their way to being 1 & done again

Seen this episode many times

It's a wholly unwatchable product for the last MONTH.

Tomlin really did out do his usual 'Unleash Hell' collapse. I'm surprised there was black and yellow in the stands at all after halftime.

Hopefully lil' Artie II was paying attention to how badly they were getting boo'd like that at home. Not a good look at all.

They are 10-7, which is above the line, and in the playoffs.
And if they get spanked by Baltimore, well that was expected seeing as how Baltimore is seen as a top team.
The boos and empty seats will never reach a level to force the kind of change we need.

Art isn't firing him, and he isn't leaving. I'm resigned that we're wasting time until Art II steps aside on his own.

Well Artie has proved to be quite inept at being a football guy. He seems to care more about public image & keeping a reputation. "The Steeler Way" is becoming more & more of a joke by the year, and they're reaching some bad lows lately. Getting boo'd out of your own stadium is bad, really bad. And the narratives on Tomlin are changing.

Then again, he's probably deathly afraid of the public backlash over breaking up with Tomlin, who is still mostly adored nationally. But what is the best way to do that separation? I think he's already on the right track by publicly stating his disdain for the current state of Steeler football. Something he could have done many moons ago.

Do I think it will happen? Not anytime soon. Not after just extending the man through 2027. But Artie can keep the pressure applied to the national narratives to make that separation easier down the road, if it ever happens. I still believe that it will ultimately be Tomlin's choice to step down or continue to tarnish his own reputation.

What needs to be done is new coordinators are hired, not just by Tomlin but by the front office, and Art and Khan have to insist that they get to actually run their own squads, and not just be Tomlin's gophers.

I'd have thought that Arthur Smith had the pull to get that, but it doesn't seem like it. Tomlin is still making all the decisions. When you have roughly the same offense three coordinators straight, it's Tomlin.

If Mike wants to be a gameday D-Coord or O-Coord he should go look for that job elsewhere. He sure as hell isn't an Andy Reid type that earned that kind of oversight.

Agreed. We've talked about it for what feels like several seasons in a row... That Tomlin likely has his hands all over both sides of the ball. It's no longer refutable. The evidence is there for all to see. This past offseason was all about big changes: shiny new & experienced coordinator, completely revamped QB room, investing a lot of capital into the OL, etc. All changes for the recent scapegoats to the offensive woes. And the end result is a slight variation of the same offense. Tomlin's old-school bully-ball approach.

Omar & Weidl have done a good job of putting pieces in place (aside from WR room). But the schemes are holding them back. That hurdle doesn't seem avoidable anymore. And if I were anyone inside this organization I would strongly consider getting out while reputations are still salvageable.

Right back in the same boat of feeling bad for the players. The all-pros wasting away their careers tied to a team content with mediocrity.
