First the Jets, now the Bears are requesting interviews with Arthur Smith for their HC vacancies.

Really doesn't make much difference whether he stays or goes. But he's already admitted that he has little interest in those positions, and would only want to make the change if the right situation came along. So we're likely stuck with him.

Truly disturbs me that Arthur Smith flat out refuses to believe that his offense is predictable.

Same thing happened with Fichtner & Canada.

Must not care about the stats which are bottom tier success averages for 1st & 2nd downs. And how many times a hot mic picked up an opposing player saying “same play” or the interviews saying they knew what the Steelers were running all game long.

Is being willfully dense a prerequisite for coaching here?

This is pretty damning evidence about predictability & scheme problems.

I don't really think the OC matters much with Tomlin running the show. Matters more than the DC, but still not a lot. That pile of garbage has his hands in all of this.

It doesnt, not one bit. Without a top-flight, first-ballot HOF'er in his prime playing QB, this is what we can expect. Year in, year out.

Weird gameplan where Watt and Highsmith keyed on Henry the whole game instead of attacking Lamar. So Lamar kept it and ran around Watt with no risk.

And seems Watt isn't happy about it.

“You go out there and play hard and physical and everything that is Pittsburgh Steeler-brand football and you have a chance,” said Watt, yet to win a postseason game in black and gold. “We didn’t do that. We haven’t been doing that — and that’s the problem.”
Derrick Henry rumbled for 186 yards and two touchdowns — including a sprint from 44 yards out — as Baltimore rolled. If he didn’t have the ball, usually it was Jackson who did, as the Ravens employed an effective read option. Pick your poison, it seemed they were saying.
“I’m just doing what the game plan asked for,” said Watt when asked about his role and why the run defense faltered in a big way. “That’s all I’ll say.”
T.J. Watt retreated to the sideline early in the second half and returned wearing a brace on a heavily-taped left elbow. With the padded metal hugging his bicep and forearm, could he have not been at full health?

Give me 5-10 players that you were most disappointed in this season...

For me:

George Pickens... Had a chance to make a name for himself this season. But all he did was prove he may never be mature enough to handle elite status.

Broderick Jones... Every week's all-22 film shows this kid making a ton of mistakes. Forgets his assignments a lot, or just flat out misses them even when he's in the right position.

Pat Freiermuth... Pat is a decent player, but his limitations became painfully evident this season. Not a good route runner, struggles to get open, and he has drop issues. Not convinced he was worth the contract.

Russ Wilson... Started out hot, and then turned into Denver Russ down the stretch. Started playing timid football. He was gun-shy and slow to get through reads. Really only gave 1-2 reads a look before dumping things down or throwing it away. His OL didn't do him many favors, but he's not worth bridging the QB position moving forward. I like his leadership, but he's just not the $30-40m per year type of guy he thinks he is.

Najee Harris... Quiet season in a contract year. I'll give him a little bit of benefit of the doubt that his run game coordinator was awful this year. But I just don't feel confident in him.

Minkah Fitzpatrick... I used to support him even though he wasn't creating any splash plays. He was handling most of his assignments well but in hindsight he was a non-factor most weeks. Rarely looked good in coverage. Tackling was abysmal. He just looked uninspired this year.

Joey Porter Jr... He's the best they have, but it was still a very disappointing season for him. I was hoping to see some growth this year, specifically with using better technique. But sadly, he's still the same grab-happy guy.

I want to see Khan and Weidl take control and shuttle out a lot of those people, and focus on building the lines instead, while collecting future draft picks. Cut and trade them away, this team is rotten. I want a shitty season next year. And then come in with a fresh start for 2027 with a new coach.

I know it won't happen, but that's the dream.

Give me hard workers, not headcases.
