Little off-topic but still Olympic related. ESPN named Michael Phelps the greatest athlete of the 21st-century.

Greatest Olympian maybe, I will buy that, greatest athlete, not even close?

Until I see him throw or catch a football, swing a baseball bat or throw a baseball or play basketball I’m calling bullshit.

Back in college, one of my friends was an Allstate soccer player in New Jersey and was given a full scholarship to play soccer at Robert Morris. As a freshman we were putting together an intramural softball team, I asked if he wanted to play and he said sure.

Our first practice I almost pissed my pants laughing, I seriously asked him if he was throwing a softball like a girl on purpose or if he was using his wrong hand?

Moral of the story, being good in one sport does not make you a great athlete.

New Zealand wins the gold and well deserved as they ran the table. Great effort from the Canadian ladies though, never thought they would beat both France and Australia to get to the gold medal game.

SILVER!!
feels like they held their own against NZ?

wonderful result for them

Yeah, on the last NZ kick-off with about a minute left, I thought a Kiwi interfered with a Canadian trying to catch the ball which should have resulted in Canada gaining possession, but the ref didn't see it that way and a bobbled exchange led to NZ getting the ball. That was essentially game over at that point. Tremendous effort though by the Canadians.

In Women's Team gymnastics, USA took gold, Italybin a surprise took silver and Brazil took bronze.

Congrats to the States, just unreal how good Simone and company are.

/Canada took 5th in the team event, pretty good.

2 additional points was all Canada needed to win bronze. Very close competition between Brazil, GBR, and Canada.

The guy who has been covering swimming on CBC for over 40 years says the pool in Paris is too shallow and that is the main reason why the times are so slow...

Canada men's basketball team is now confirmed to the quarter-finals. Last group game versus Spain is huge though as that will determine the group winner and avoiding the States as long as possible (possible meeting in the gold medal game?)

It seems like only yesterday Simone Biles was a a quitter and a disgrace. I'm sure the main board is happy for her success.

Have a good day, mate...

The US woman’s 7 beat Australia also to get their first ever Medal.

The way they won was unreal at the last second.

So the appeal was dismissed not the penalty?

It’s too early for me to be confused by a headline lol

Wake up little snoozy lol - No change essentially, Canada still on zero points and need to beat Colombia today to advance to the knockout stage. A loss or tie and they are done like dinner.

Watching women's water polo and you need to be in incredible shape to excel at this sport.

/Also, I like when they flip to the underwater camera to show how dirty the competitors can be :D
