Players report to camp this week... 1st practice is the 25th.

Headlines to watch:

1. Arthur Smith's Offense... the bar is low coming off multiple years of Canada, but I'm curious to see how this takes shape. All signs point to a run-heavy, TE friendly scheme. OL is beefed up & should be evident from day 1.
2. Training Camp Battles... Obviously quarterback is the highlight here, but its not really much of a battle. It's RW's job to lose. Nevertheless, it will be exciting to see new faces at the helm in Latrobe. Battles at RT & WR2 will be noteworthy. Fautanu will make the staff look bad for drafting him if he can't win the job. And who the hell knows who will rise out of the scrap heap to become WR2. Same can be said about CB2 with the questionable pile they have back there. Also, been seeing some hype about Nate Herbig making a push for starting Center. But the rookie should easily win this job. And they'd be foolish not to let the rookie start from the jump.
3. Defense... Have a hard time get overly excited given the scheme's propensity to falter in big games, but the core being healthy & some of the younger guys taking the next step should put this unit into top 5 consideration. Worried about depth at multiple positions: CB, Edge, DL, S. Need to see some spark at those depth positions.
4. Heyward extension... Really curious to see how much life he has left in him. He claims to have played mostly injured last year. But paying an aged trench guy that may be in decline is bad business. I still don't want to ever doubt Cam. He's a formidable force, even at his age. But can he stay healthy? Best leader they have, but only so much you can do from the sideline if injuries strike.

This season has painful written all over it, one WR that has tremendous potential, but hasn’t gotten near it….The rest of the WR group are castaways from the Island of Misfit toys……just wish they could have worked something out with DJ, because his numbers will be hard to replace…..

I agree. This WR room is held together by hopes & dreams. Luckily Arthur Smith's offense deploys a lot of TE routes, so the WRs won't be the sole focus on the receiving end.

I'd like to think people are starting to realize Twitter is not a reliable source for that stuff. But then again these younger generations are insanely gullible.
