Wouldn't mind a reunion with Peterson. Steelers need more options at slot CB. Watts primarily played outside, but is versatile. Donte Jackson seems slated for outside. They got a good one in UDFA with Beanie Bishop. Could be the next diamond found in the UDFA heap.

I'm hoping for Justin Simmons.

That would be significant.

Seeing a lot of smoke on Courtland Sutton though. Probably the most likely at this point.

At this point, I'd rather not trade any future picks away unless it's a 5th or later.

Simmons at SS
Xavien Howard or Stephen Gilmore at CB
Boyd, or bring Robinson back if he agrees to a cheaper deal.

Seems like nothing is going on, eh?

As if he would ever tip the cap if something really was in the works.

He was happy with Kenny, then suddenly traded him. He isn't going to say shit until it happens.

Gathered that this is somewhat of a joke... but still... This "coordinator" should be slapped. Is he talkin about Danny Smith? Wouldn't be surprised... Dude exudes arrogance.

So they didn’t exercise the 5th year option for Harris. Not surprised as if they intend to keep him a better deal will be made.

They have the money to pay him, but why? Najee is alright, but they will be in a better negotiating position without paying that option.

RB's are easy to replace and find (and next years draft will be loaded). Warren was a UDFA and he performs just as well. I never like spending high draft capital on these guys.

And that pick should have been Dickerson or Humphrey.

Omar is money-smart. His background has over 20 years of football admin (running the financial books). It boils down to the Steelers vs. the cap (and subsequently the 5th year pricetag). Not many teams view that position as worthy of that 5th year investment, and even fewer believe they are worth the long term contracts they are pushing for. Shelf-lives are short, and its more affordable to do the committee approach to find comparable success or effectiveness.

They can offer Najee a contract and this is likely the plan. He will likely stall on it for a while to look out for his best interest. May even refuse.

But the Steelers are lookin at it as either signing him for cheaper or replacing his production. Having spent a 1st Rd pick on a RB and then seeing a UDFA perform just as well as him had to be an unsettling experience for the FO. RB value has plummeted in todays NFL and this was evidence to support that.

I like Najee. Tough & physical runner capable of grinding out 1k yd seasons behind a shit OL. Really believe he would be a Derrick Henry type behind a stellar OL. Not sure what more he could have done to earn the best payday available given the crappy cast he had to deal with. So I don't fault him if he goes elsewhere. Its just the nature of that position anymore. And you can 1000000% bet that he will have his best season to date running pissed off behind a much improved OL to prove himself in a contract year. He'll price himself out of Pgh.

And in all honesty, with this style of running he might have 1 or 2 good years left. Not worth the big paycheck.

Also didn’t realize the signed Edward’s as an UDFA out of Georgia. Might be yet another Warren type find after the draft.

Well, Boyd is off the list... Reportedly turned down the Steelers 2yr, $10m deal last month... Now he signs for cheaper. Something tells me he bet on himself & lost. Steelers likely rescinded their offer.

Works out better for the Steelers. The other options out there aren’t much different and would cost less anyway.

Shame though I would have liked him in Pittsburgh.

Steelers need a vet presence in that room. Van Jefferson & Quez Watkins are the most tenured & experienced players they have in that room. And neither has ever been cast in a prominent role.
