I just don’t see JJ going this high in the draft.
McCarthy is most likely going in the 2nd round. Look, I dig his game. He has the right type of physical and mental tools. The problem lies on the fact that Michigan was a run-first team and we didn't really see him sling the football around much. In his last 6 games, he threw for 857 yards and 126 pass attempts.

to me.
He seems like a college only QB. I dont have a good feeling his game transfers all that well to the NFL.

Why exactly do you say this?

He throws the ball extremely well with timing and accuracy.

After he goes through the receiver routes, he's dangerous on the run.

The only reason why people are saying this is because his stat sheet doesn't look great.

It's almost like McCarthy is the second coming of another Michigan QB who handed it off a lot on the way to a big record?

hope you're right, but I don't see it.
They usually run because they don't want to make the tight throws.
Open in college is hugely different than open in the pros.

Michigan is really the only team I watched this year, & I dont get the warm & fuzzies about him in the pros.

But I will digress. I am no college player guru or anything.

The Senior Bowl happened today. For the quarterbacks, Sam Hartman, Michael Pratt, Joe Milton, and Carter Bradley did not impress at all. But Bo Nix and Spencer Rattler were the standouts and they only had one or two drives. Rattler went 4 for 4 for 65 yards and a touchdown. He was also named the game's MVP. Nix went 4 for 5 for 29 yards and a touchdown. Looks like Rattler will be getting a draft boost.

Spencer Rattler
- 23 years old (24 in September), 6'1 217 pounds
- Played three years for Oklahoma Sooners, two years for the South Carolina Gamecocks
- After having a successful season in 2020 for Oklahoma (9-2, Big-12 Champions, Cotton Bowl victory), Rattler got benched in 2021 for Caleb Williams, and never started again for Oklahoma.
- Started 25 games for South Carolina
- Averaged 248 passing yards game, scored 44 touchdowns to 20 interceptions, and averaged 7.8 yards per pass as a Gamecock

Bill Parcells would love him as a 3 year starter that doesn't turn the ball over. Has decent enough NFL arm strength and can vary his velocity and touch. Solid pocket presence. Highlight film is full of underthrows and outside the hashes in one on one situations. Not a single throw on the run, or in roll outs or with awkward body positions. In the new age NFL you seriously have to question his ability to make plays when shit breaks down.

Need to see film with him under duress and making throws outside the pocket. He won't see many clean pockets in the NFL nor 1 on 1s every down and being able to throw outside the hashes all day and win games at the next level.

What's WR?

Needs to change positions and be a WR in the NFL. JJ McCarthy is in no way shape or form an NFL QB. Those thinking he will go in the 1st or 2nd round are completely nuts. I wouldn't take the guy in round 37.

In all of his career starts for Michigan, he was never an overwhelming factor as to why they won a single game. On the biggest stage of them all, his team carried the entire weight of them winning a National Title. He was a complete non-factor and was never asked to make the throws Penix had to make all night for the losing team to be competitive.

Switch QBs in the Natty game, and Michigan wins 63-3.

It would not surprise me one bit if this is one of those years that some kid nobody is talking about gets drafted in rd 3 or 4 and 9th or 10th QB off the board ends up being the best QB in the draft. And all 5 or whatever guys who get drafted in the first round are either outright busts or just meh when all is said and done. Most unpredictable position to draft in football year after year. Get the odd superstar now and then but about 90% don't live up to the hype.

As a GM. 3 guys intrigue me.

Daniels is a good Dual threat QB with good size.

McCaffery is a small but has good feet and decent arm. If i have great targets (2 WRs and a TE or 3 WRs) I'd take a flyer. My want for Seahawks

Nix is a Lower level daniels.

Phenix. He looked good but then you look at the NCG. When they took away the WRs and Rushed him. He looked like a lost puppy

I really don't trust him. He is a turnover machine
