Caleb looked pretty good against the Vikes yesterday.
It is absolutely amazing what a difference a different playcaller can make even if it is the exact same offense.
Bryce Young seems to be a good example of that. Carolina brought in a coach that Stroud was "perfect" for and they picked Young instead and ended up firing their coach. QBs are so important, though. I dont understand why multiple teams were probably interested in Michael Penix at 8 and nobody tries to jump up and steal Nix before pick 12.I would say fit matters almost as much as talent in today's NFL. I don't think Bo Nix is doing what he is doing say he went to Chicago instead of Denver. So yeah a different coach can make a QB look night and day different.

I think the past year or so we've seen coaches wise up a bit. Broncos kicked Russell Wilson to the curb. Packers kicked Aaron Rodgers to the curb. Raiders kicked Derek Carr to the curb although they're the Raiders. So often fear of failure causes teams to pass on talent at the QB position. If you get it wrong oh boy every one is fired. I think back to the Broncos in 2018 I think it was. They had the 5th overall pick and were debating between Josh Allen and Bradley Chubb. They had just come out of the Paxton Lynch era of failure where they took an athletic QB that needed some work and Elway panicked not wanting to make the same mistake twice. So they took the edge guy. Chubb is a good player (when healthy) but nowhere near the franchise changer as that of Allen.
Mistake the Raiders made compared to the others is they really didn't have a plan at QB after Carr. Broncos knew they would be taking a QB in this draft. Payton pretty much talked about it nonstop of them needing to get this right. Packers obviously with Love knowing they have a guy in the wings ready to go.I think the past year or so we've seen coaches wise up a bit. Broncos kicked Russell Wilson to the curb. You can have a risky QB. You can have an expensive QB. Risky and expensive? Go fishing in the draft instead. imo.

I'm with you that I would rather take the risk and be wrong than continue to sit in that QB purgatory of taking ok veterans and paying them big money hoping they can be more than what they have shown so far in their career. Seems to just keep you in that midtier of the NFL where not bad enough to get a good QB but never good enough to compete for Super Bowls.
sure..why not?Does anybody here still think Williams is better than Daniels? Like I said before on here, Daniels should have been QB1.
Why not indeed. Even after they retire folks disagree on how good a QB and where he should be ranked. Discussing these things is why sports board exist.sure..why not?
15 games is enough to label these guys.
Do you really think Caleb Williams is head and shoulders above Jayden Daniels?sure..why not?

I don't know.Do you really think Caleb Williams is head and shoulders above Jayden Daniels?
Its still a bit too early. We saw Bryce Young really turn it around about halfway into year 2.Do you really think Caleb Williams is head and shoulders above Jayden Daniels?
Remember Josh Allen. Think he was in his 3rd season (dont remember what year for sure) & he was looking kinda busty, then all of sudden he turned into an all pro.Its still a bit too early. We saw Bryce Young really turn it around about halfway into year 2.
Digging into the advanced stats and Jayden Daniels has more RPOs mixed in and the air yards are 7.3 compared to Caleb's 8.1. Daniels is more experienced and in an easier system. That said, Caleb has twice as many bad throws.
I do think Daniels has shown enough that he probably should have been the #1 pick in most drafts. He is good. I'm just not sure how much of the issues with Williams is the Bears.
Josh Allen arguably has gotten better every single year, too.Remember Josh Allen. Think he was in his 3rd season (dont remember what year for sure) & he was looking kinda busty, then all of sudden he turned into an all pro.
but nonetheless it is fun to guess & look back later & see how close or out to lunch your thoughts were.
I still think Drake Maye will be the professional football player that wont disappoint. Dont think he will ever have the upside or hype of say Daniels, but I think he will be the one most didnt see coming. (in a few years)
I think Caleb Williams had no chance. Even if he turns into a decent QB as a #1 pick with all the hopes & dreams it will be still considered a disappointment. Since I dont think he will be the next coming or anything to that level.
Daniels was in a perfect scenario. He wasnt drafted #1 so he will be compared to that guy. Beat out that guy & the fans will be happy with the pick.
So Daniels would be the easy pick IMO.
My pick in career longevity is Drake Maye.
Lets see how horrible I do
