Shout out to Sheila Hamp for hiring Dan Campbell and Brad Holmes, and who has more testosterone than all the Ford boys put together.

I thought going empty backfield on 3rd and 1 was dumb as fuck.

When Amik Robertson went down in the 1st quarter, I knew it was going to be a long night on defense.
It was always going to be a long night for the defense, regardless of any injury. We desperately needed our QB not to give the game away. But he did.

Same.. they'd been running it down their throats, are a great play action team.. so they telegraph that it's going to be a pass on 3rd &1 in the red zone? It was just 1 play but it made no sense. But Goff was bad. The strip sack fumble.. well, that's going to happen occasionally and the last int was in desperation time. But on the other 2 .. 1 was underthrown and the other was overthrown. He missed a few others too including one to Jamo deep early on that would have been 6. He needed to be better.. much better given the condition of the defense last night.

Defense lost contain, didn’t know how to play on at least one of the 4th and going for it. Apparently the ‘reckless’ nature of the Detroit offense is now becoming the new league standard. But what rally hurt the effort last night was the offense didn’t just possess the ball, chew clock, and keep the Detroit D off the field. With the Defense as depleted as it was, you can’t try to score quickly; just score one more time than the opponent!

The deep ball to Jamo that was just out of his reach was a perfect example of if it succeeds they’re screwed because the D just got off the field. Let the Defense have a little time to catch their breath! Run it, throw short to intermediate, methodically march down the field. It isn’t a track meet.

The absolute worst player on the field last night was Williams. Between his being a step behind to looking more worried about taunting/showboating a TD (which allowed the Commanders a chance to stop him or get a penalty), he just played the part of the clown. WTF was he jogging back when the team was in hurry up? His actions showed he just doesn’t get it. I really can’t blame him for throwing an interception; he’s shown a lack of football IQ to understand throwing was a valid option. It’s a complex offensive at times, and he really needs to play a simple part it seems.

If this was the audition for our Coordinators to show they’re head coach material, then I think they both dropped in the list of desirables. That said, there’s more teams in need than quality head coach candidates available. I’d like to see the coaching staff stay together, but that’s probably too much to ask for again. Let’s hope the team learns from this and puts it all together next year, especially if it’s with a new OC and DC.

I am not going to even analyze that shit show. I will leave 3 observations.

The defense was lame not only due to strategy but everyone just looked tired.
Graham Glasgow is not starter material. He got beat on every single play.
Offensive strategy should have been run the ball all night. WA is not a great run defense and plays a nickle base.

Jamo should have NEVER been given the option to throw the ball. He's been here for 2 years... they know who he is. That was on Ben Johnson... as was the idiotic decision to go with an empty backfield in the red zone on 3rd & 1 which resulted in the fumble. Johnson is definitely creative offensive mind but he too often tries to be too clever.

As for the worst player on the field, hopefully we're done with the Ja-red Goff! chanting. What fan base does for their QB that anyway? Enough! It's ridiculous.. especially when we're talking about a guy who's barely a top ten QB and was clearly only the 2nd best QB on the field against the Commanders... and I mean overall, not just that night.

OC Ben Johnson = Gone - HC of division rival Bears
DC Aaron Glenn = Gone - HC of New York Jets
D-Lline coach Terrell Williams = Gone - DC of New England Patriots
O-Line coach Hank Fraley = interviewing for Seattle OC job and speculated as OC for Johnson in Chicago.

Lots of people had Williams as the favorite to take over for Glenn here. Lots of people have Fraley as the favorite to take over for Johnson here. Personally I think Campbell is more involved with the offense ithan people think. On that side of the ball we need a playcaller, but I think a lot of the actual offense is Campbell's. Obviously as Johnson came into his own he was designing more trick plays and doing stuff with formations and motion and tweaking what was already there, im not pretending he wasnt a huge part of what we did. But a new guy can come in and have Campbell to lean on. Defense is a whole different story. I think whoever we get kind of has to be the man. They drafted guys to play mostly 4-3 man, probably with a lot of press coverage too. But other than that...?

Maybe Williams left because he has Vrabel to lean on in NE? Maybe he wasn't ready to run the whole show? Maybe we already have an heir apparent in house, like Aubrey Pleasant? I don't know. Or maybe they're looking outside the organization? Saleh or somebody like that with DC success and HC experience would be attractive. On offense though I feel like they promote somebody from within. But I can see bringing in an outside guy from the Parcels/ Payton coaching tree. At least for an interview.

Dennis allen as DC please

I am lost on who should be OC, i remember hearing something about them trying to protect some assistant of Ben johnson so he can take over for him when he took a HC job

I say the following with all due respect. I realize the team and the fans are in love with Dan Campbell but I don't think the Lions will ever win a Super Bowl with him as HC. Takes too many risks and why he didn't stick with Gibbs and Montgomery is puzzling. The best RB duo in the league that the Skins had no answer for and he mysteriously goes away from them. Weird.
