They have Kennard.

He just needs to get his mojo back.

He and short arms Bane and 1 more guy should be enough.
Need another shooter is not enough. Need at least 2 and possibly 3. Too much pressure on that 1 guy to always have it going

And considering the guys making that money are…much better than him…it’s hard to do

Not all of them are. There are a lot of shitty contracts out there. But there are few players that are worth getting that would be available in trade for Toby.

Remind me never to question Brad

I said earlier I'd rather have Smart long term than pay Porzingis the extension. But now that its Porzingis and 2 1sts for Smart, I'm doing that deal every time.

2 first round picks is nice but they likely won't be top 20 picks. Memphis should be damn good this season. We are talking about 25 & something similar next season most likely. For a team that's in title or bust now, the team took a step back currently. Lets see what they do for rest of offseason

See, I think its actually the opposite. By bringing in Porzingis and the dollar figure they are likely gonna pay him, they're gonna wreck their roster long term once the Tatum/Brown extensions kick in, making them one of those 2nd apron teams. They're going all in right now and I think they've improved themselves. Losing Smart sucks, but Brogdan/White can hold it down and they still may get a supplemental guard this offseason. Porzingis really gives them some dynamic front court options too. He packs a score pop and is a solid PnR defender as well so now they have a legit answer when Robert Williams can't play for whatever reason. And those picks help out roster wise too considering how cash strapped they are gonna be. This year's draft especially is loaded so I won't be surprised at all if whoever they take at 25 contributes something this year.

Just waking up to the big Celtics trade news...

This is a good trade for Boston, overall.

Sucks losing Smart... but it looks like the C's had to give up something good to make the trade happen, and we had an overload at the guard position... so it is what it is. I hope we keep Pritchard now and let him continue to develop.

The Celtics lose some more of their defensive identity, but this offense is stacked. Zinger is an amazing pick-up in the frontcourt. There are $$$ and tax implications beyond next year... but we'll worry about beyond next year when we get there. Bottom line: we needed more in the frontcourt, and this is a colossal get.

The added draft capital is great and makes this deal a slam dunk.

Injury concerns continue to be a main obstacle in the way of a C's championship.

Trading Smart was smart. He lost two playoff games trying to shoot a three with less than a second on the clock. Instead of passing the ball to Tatum or Brown who are the long range shooters. The Clippers backing out because of Brogdon's injury status isn't good news for him. He says that his injury that landed him on the bench for the final game of the Miami series isn't serious. Clippers believe that he needs surgery.

If this deal gets finalized before tonight's draft, you can expect Brad to attempt to make another move. Grant Williams and that #23 will be going somewhere for a number 12 or better tonight. Look for the C's to try to grab a true PF. OR possibly deal Williams and Brogdon for one.

@fightinfunbags @flyerhawk @Sparhawk

What exactly do the 6ers want in return?

Tobias for Harrison Barnes would be a win….imo

Dunno if you have the means for a sign and trade.

Not a fan of taking back terrible deals, so I would punt the year and use that money in free agency the following year.

If he thrives as a starter they could flip Jones for something at trade deadline....if they don't want to keep him.
