Buckyboy said so many goofy things not sure. But to me that scoreboard thing sounds more like kawhi-2-tatum.

Definitely wasn't k2t. Actually, not that I think about it I think it was a Denver fanboy, and probably a decade ago. Fellow Lakers fans will possibly remember...

To bolster the big depth, not replace Zubac.
Zubac goes to make the salary work. They want to keep Mann and Powell so Zubac is the next best contract to make it work.

But let’s slow this down:
You think the team that has made a massive investment in Kawhi and PG13, with their window closing, is going to throw the kibash on a deal that would bring them a PG, a position they’ve been searching for for years, because ….wait for it…
They just can’t part with Ivica Zubac and his 28 minutes a night?

Bwahahahahaha!!!

Did they not just re-sign him in the assumed Post-Dame world?
When they were still courting Dame. I didn’t release the report. Take it up with the reporters leaking this.

Rebuilding through free agency isn't as much of a thing these days. Rebuilding through trades and picks is. Trading for two guys that will ultimately only give you salary relief and maybe a pick 5 or 6 years down the line only works for the next GM, not the current one.

They would get far away from the luxury tax and be able to take on salary.

Something that is even more important in the new stupid cba era

We shall see.

I don't buy Portland trading for Beard and Harris and then trading them off....
If they do this it’s at the deadline and it’s to clear major cap space. 75 million in expiring contracts accounts for more than 50% of the total cap. That has value for a team in rebuild mode.

You think the guy who traded Dame is likely to keep his job?

In the NBA every summer 90% of the teams are capped out and can’t pay people. The Blazers are in a position wherein they may have to overpay a young up and comer that is coming off a rookie deal. There are likely a dozen players that fit that bill every year. Expiring cap space is always valuable. If you’re willing to pay more than everyone else (and yes, they will have to overpay) you’re going to land talent on your roster.

How are they taking on that salary? Exceptions? If they don't have assets to trade? They are already 18M under the supertax for next season, there's your MLE addition.

Theyre right up against the line this year

But other teams will need to clear out space in the next few years or face those laughably draconian penalties

Clearing out grants salary is a huge plus

That was A bad contract the second it was inked

If Philly wants to swap them out, you take it and run

Blazers will be $40M over the cap next summer as things stand today. They are already expected to move Jrue. I don't seem them dumping Grant as well.

They’re due to be 40 million over the cap in 2024-25. 75 million of cap relief gets them out of paying any luxury tax at all in a rebuild and it also frees them up to have 35 million in spendable cap depending upon what cap holds they want to hold on to.

Dame was assumed gone when all the Miami talk started (and had already talked to the team). Grant signed July 9th.
Nope. Dame gave them the first two weeks of Fa before making the Miami demand.

Don't see it. Jrue will be moved, and likely to a different team with a much more current asset or draft pick than 5 years into the future. He will have teams interested for sure.

Even if it’s not Philly they should be looking to get out from under that deal

I already addressed that. I’m proposing a deadline deal of Jrue and Grant. That’s removing 75 million off of their 24-25 cap. That ensures they aren’t paying any luxury tax. That gives them 35 million to be in on 1-2 guys they think fit their rebuild.

Publicly. They had spoken behind the scenes prior.

To sign grant to that deal knowing you were trading dame is Elgin Baylor and Isaiah Thomas levels of stupidity

I don’t see it
