He will get the benefit of the doubt with recruits for at least a couple years. Duke is Duke.

But if he continues to underachieve, the shine will fade quickly.

Best 1 on 1 players are big wings, not bigs.

A player like Oden is not scoring on Beal every time when he has to start the possession at the top of the key. That is not in his skill set.

Yeah missing a team line by 2 is bad. That can completely change the outcome of your season. Playing a 12 and 4 intead of a 14 and 6 is a huge difference

But at the same time, tournament play is just so unpredictable. That is only part of a team’s story in a given season to me.

Now, if they get bounced early the next 3 years too?

That is different.

But not reading too much into any 1 game.

Not that simple.

He isn’t comfortable doing that.

Awkward matchup for both to be sure. But it isn’t as easy for the big to score as you are making it seem.

Beal isn’t Trae Young. He wouldn’t just let Oden walk him under the basket.
