people hate on LeBron for jumping around but most of the greats had the luxury of an already great supporting cast. I don't see anyone but LeBron dragging the 07 Cavs to a finals over Detroit.

They also didn't have max deals back then......I have a hard time believing if he could get paid close to what the Bulls did by, say, NY that MJ would not have stuck it to Krause and left.

It was Ballsy for the Celtics. They had actually agreed to trade for Garnett 1 week before the draft, but KG refused to sign an extension and would not waive the trade kicker so it fell apart. So when they traded for Allen they had no expectation of getting KG.

For Minnesota because of KG refusing instead of the #5 pick they got Gerald Green, Ryan Gomes, and the pick they owed the Celtics.

So Jeff Green vs Gerald Green, Gomes, Johnny Flynn, and Wayne Ellington.

Nice.

I didn’t realize it went down like that.

Even more respect for what the C’s were able to pull off.

Wel they had a huge edge cause that Flynn pick was minnys own pick

So trading Kg would’ve just meant tanking for nothing

Don’t forget they got al Jefferson after he had a big series helping the Celtics upset indiana

He was a huge get at the time

NTC doesn't mean you don't get a 1st round pick. Just like Dame he had 3 more years left on his contract.

They could have held out for a better offer from the Suns as well.

It sounds like it was Miami or Pho and Miami was waiting for dame situation to be resolved.

you could argue their best chance was to wait and try to get involved in the Dame deal and take Herro...but again Pho had no firsts or good young players to deal. Would Port be happy with 4 seconds or just try to flip Herro on their own?
